Forward to me means:
Making progress…
Taking that first step…
Not going backwards…
Thinking of the future…
Looking ahead… 
Sometimes we do this with determination…
Sometimes we do this with reluctance…
Sometimes we can hardly wait…
I had caught the snow falling in a progressive way… going forward… certainly not backwards!
