I posted on a painting I did with others at
I went to another class with “Wine and Canvas” last night…
Doesn’t compare… sorry to say…
The people were very nice… no problem there..
The surroundings were OK…
It was held at Mimi’s Cafe here in Louisville…
This group holds classes at different restaurants in the area… on different dates…
Faults I found…
Crowded…
No wine or snacks as their name indicates…BUMMER!… you could order and pay for your own…
They didn’t provide all colors of paint… Only the colors of the painting that the instructor had chosen…
I came to paint an Eiffel Tower for my bathroom…pinks…gray…black…
No red…or pink to be had… Only black, blue, green, white and yellow…
See why I was disappointed??? …Both my friend and I needed the pink or at least some red/white to make our own pink… to finish our painting…
So… I finished it at home this morning… and she is doing the same…
As I said …It’s a great idea… and holding it at restaurants is OK too… but, not what I expected!…
I love to paint and being with my friend I used to work with was great!…
I also had gotten a coupon off of the internet for 1/2 off … So instead of $70 for the two of us… it was $35 for us… and sharing that… made it $17.50 each…
That should have nothing to do with the wrongs I found… They had done the advertising and deal…
So… it helps to check out these things…
Just starting to paint black paint all over canvas…”night scene”…
Starting to get design of “Eiffel Tower” on canvas…
My friend in black and me in stripe shirt…
Andrea starting to put in lights of city in background…
Finished work… If I had some pink I could have been finished too…
Young girl named Beverly sat next to me… I thought she did a great job!

Andrea with her painting… She needs to finish as me…
We had a great time anyway… Nothing can keep us from that!
We had to turn our paintings upside-down to paint bottom edge…
I left with just black…gray…white…
It now sparkles with bright pink lights… Much better!

Thanks for a wonderful and fun evening. I’m still waiting for my glass of wine. (Ha Ha) This was such a great experience because I haven’t painted on canvas for about 25 years. I generally sketch on canvas and work flat. Gee, I’m so mechanical about painting. Go figure!!! Let’s plan another outing again real soon. I’ll send you a picture when my painting is done. Just love the Eiffel Tower…. Happy painting. Love & hugs, Andrea
It was great being with you too…maybe another art class at my nephews…you will see the difference!
Awesome blog and artwork! Thanks for the pingback!
no problem…it was so fun!
What a fun evening! Love your work! I agree, sounds like the organizers should have lived up to the name of the event. We used to eat at Mimi’s when we lived in Denver…love their muffins, their 5 way grilled cheese…and pretty much everything I tried there. Thanks for sharing! ~ Sheila
it was fun…just needed a little tweeking…
Love the painting! This seems like lots of fun
It is…hope to go again soon…thanks for reading…
I know you would really like it…because it’s so fun!
you guys did a great job painting! looks like a fun thing to do!
yes it was…hope to do it again…I now have a painting for my kitchen and one for my bathroom…
Wow!!I am so jealous! I love doing pencil and charcoal but I have never attempted paints. Actually I am intimidated by them.
I bet you are good at your drawings…I love paint…let’s you make mistakes that no one can see…
I have not done a painting class like that before. I love the idea, but I don’t like how similar each person’s painting looks. Thats less interesting to me. I have seen similar Groupon deals near me (in Ohio) and have been tempted to buy them! I cannot afford full price for something thats “just for fun” especially when I can paint everything at home for less! haha Someday…!
I like yours with the pinks!
I beat to a different drum too…so both of the classes I’ve gone to …mine looked different from others…but, the instructors seem to be OK with that…it is fun!…just going with friends …have another planned soon…and it’s also a different place…
