I Like a “Rainy Day”…

It has rained   all day…I have to say,”I like a Rainy Day!”…Many songs have been written and sung about “RAIN”…Some of my favorites are…”Who’ll Stop the  Rain?”/ Creedence Clearwater Revival …”Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head“/ B. J. Thomas…”Rainy Days and Mondays“/ The Carpenters  …”Rainy Night In Georgia“/Brook  Benton   …”I Love a Rainy Night“/Eddie Rabbit  and of course…”Kentucky Rain” by Elvis…   For sure this is a KY Rain!…an “all dayer” as they would say…They say women like to get out in the rain to shop…I find that to be true…I was out and found a few things I was shopping for…I like to stay ahead of the game on Birthdays, Holidays, Baby Showers…such as that…so I now have my Granddaughter’s Birthday finished which is in April …I have cards to mail for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter…and I also have a couple of my BUNCO presents for when I have it in April…I think women like Rainy Days for shopping because only another woman would want to go with them or you can go alone…men rather stay home and watch TV or take a nap…Nothing sounds better than rain hitting a roof or window where you can hear it…it can be so soothing…makes for a good night’s sleep…I have to admit I was asking, “Who’ll Stop the Rain?”…when we got flooded back in March-1997…surrounding our house and coming up on our cars, 8″-10″ fell …boats going down our street…and then the clean-up…”Rainy Night In GA” reminds me of course of my husband…that’s where he is from…when he came home from Viet Nam he talked about the monsoons  …so I probably can’t realize how hard and long it really can rain…and as long as Elvis sang about our “KY Rain”…well, I could listen to those raindrops a long time…

“MY KIDS”…

Our kids and us loved Fridays…it was our favorite day of the week…it meant payday for us as teachers every other week…and the last day before those wonderful weekends…We worked so hard all through the week…and then on Friday it just seemed more relaxed  …We all were happier, we all were looking forward to something, we couldn’t wait for the clock to hit 2:20pm…We tried to make Field Trips on Thursdays…people would ask… Why not Friday?”…because that made for two good days together…silly! We had our tactics    for making our job pleasant for all involved…later we began to make Fridays “Movie Day”…as long as behaviors were up to par and nothing else pressing, the students could bring a “G” rated movie  and then they would vote on the one they wanted to watch…sometimes the same movie was seen over and over …because it was their favorite…although Friday was our “favorite” day …we did like other days too…we liked it when our Occupational Therapist came on Thursdays every other week…she was the greatest and always had something fun and challenging for the students to do…many games, writing papers, color sheets, etc. …and then there was gym day…at the end of the day …usually on Mondays…we went to the gym and played basketball , jumped rope or played other games…a time the kids called “Free Time”…so all in all I guess we had lots of favorite days…unless you asked me and I would say, “Rainy Days and Mondays” together …they really got me down…
