When and Why to Drink Water!

I’ve been trying to drink more water  I know it’s good for me… I’ve heard it all of my life… I don’t dislike it… but, I sure do like my Diet Pepsi  … and Iced Tea in the summer…

I really think water is simply the most refreshing drink… can cool us down … and keep us hydrated better than any other liquid…

I belong to TOPS ( Take Off Pounds Sensibly) a weight watcher group… We have been trying to help each other by giving encouragement…

We try to mail a card  or call at least two people in our group every week… and everyone is loving it…

We are trying to exercise  at least 3 times a week… our choice… something we really like preferably… where we will stay with it…

We are writing down what we eat daily… to remind us of what is going into our bodies… Sometimes we are quite surprised!…

Of course we are trying to lose  a pound or so weekly… We even will take a 1/4 or 1/2 of a pound… Just try to be sensible and consistent

Then there’s the water… we are all trying to drink at least 8 cups of water a day… or at least more than we usually do…

There are correct times to drink water…

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body…

2 glasses of water after waking up – helps activate internal organs…

1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal – helps digestion

1 glass of water before taking a bath – helps lower blood pressure…

1 glass of water before going to bed – avoids stroke or heart attack…

EXTRA Information:

Water at bed time will also help prevent night-time leg cramps

… Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse…

The question was asked, “Why people seem to urinate so much at night-time?”...

Answer from a Cardiac Doctor

Gravity holds water in the lower part of the body when you are upright (causing swelling)…

When a person lies down and the lower part of the body (legs and etc.) seeks level with the kidneys… it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier…

Also water flushes toxins  from the body…

  1. I used to have a hard time drinking enough water too… But lately, I’ve discovered those vitamin water and sparkling water drinks with no sugar and they have helped me a lot. I agree that we need water for more than quenching our thirst. Thanks for the reminder. :-)
