Some of my Special ( Favorite) Things

Memory…

Sometimes we look around and see some things that we would never get rid of…

People who know me… are probably saying that I keep everything!… Not, so!… They truly do have to have some special meaning to me…

Believe it or not… glancing around I found only a few… I’m sure there are more… but, these jumped out at me and I will tell you “why” they are special …

This is “Sugar”… She was a puppy… a little ball of fur… when I first saw her… and I knew immediately … “She was mine!”… The boys were around 9 and 10 years old… and we had her for 16 years… until I had to have her put to sleep…

She moved with us from our first home to the home we live in now… She was the best dog… and I have not had another dog since… So you see… she was special!

This is a little clay figurine my Granddaughter, Taylor… who is almost 18 years old… bought for me when she was in Elementary School… She bought it at the Santa Shop and gave it to me for Christmas… I guess you know…”I think it is just beautiful!”… She liked the “chicken”… Surrounded by numerous veggies picked from the garden and standing on a old chair… She said, “I know you like animals like me”… and I said, “I certainly do!”

This little figurine sat on this little shelf that my Dad made just for her… in the house I grew up in… Daddy bought anything that caught his eye … and always had a little plan as to what he was going to do with it… and where it would be going… He always said this little girl reminded him of me… Of course I didn’t have red hair… or freckles… but, I did love to play in our creek and pretend to fish… Her pole had gotten misplaced… so I added that from my yard and the little glass fish that I thought would look cute… She is porcelain… and has survived with no chips or cracks for about 50 years… She has a hole under her that attaches to a screw that he put on the shelf… This keeps her from slipping off… I didn’t want furniture or big items when my parents passed… These small things are what I think is special… with a little story about them…
