I Am Woman

I began as a little baby girl…

Smiling up into my Mother’s face…

Held by the strong arms of a loving Dad…

Taken to a home with older brother’s and sister’s…

Yes, I was the last born…

I was pampered…

k12145182

I was taught…

I was held…

I was spoiled…

I kept growing…

I played in the creek that ran behind our home…

Yes… I grew strong physically and mentally…

I made friends… lasting relationships…

I was educated…

Loved every minute of schooling…

I wanted to be a teacher

I wanted to be an artist…

I kept learning…

I made some mistakes…

I was naive…

I was shy…

I was still immature…

I dated… I fell hard for a guy…

I wasted three years…

Seeing that I wanted more!…

I got a job… I worked hard and gave my best…

I had been taught principles…

I had been taught respect…

I was learning that I was special and deserved more…

I met a man… full of the same desires and had been taught as me… how special people are!…

and he worked hard… serving his country… and

we married!…

k8117625

We had two sons…

He worked hard… and I as WOMAN… did the best I could raising kids… working…. keeping house… cooking…

ME being put on hold for a while…

Which is what women have to do sometimes…

My kids had their own problems… but, grew into wonderful men…

I worked with Special Kids for 30 years…

I continued to learn…

to reach out…

I was no longer that shy, innocent girl …

I had become a WOMAN!…

I now stand by my man…

I love my sons…

but, I do for me now… in small ways… in big ways…

I am independent and strong…

although still a Mom and Wife…

  1. Marilyn, I feel exactly the same. I’ve reared kids, worked throughout my life, and at this point, I’m finding time to be me, in new ways that I hadn’t discovered before. I’m happy that I had the privilege of giving time and energy to my kids and family and work in my early years. But I’m excited to have reached this stage of life, when I can develop new avenues of work and hobbies, while learning to be “Gram” and enjoying the empty nest with my husband. Thanks for the post and the reminder that I am Woman! ~ Sheila
