In Memory of a Sweet Niece!

Another memorial yesterday… k12838080… after attending one for a friend last week…

My sweet niece was honored… after passing away December 31, 2014…

The service was held at their church... where we have been to so many sad and happy events… k10773595

It almost seems like we belong since we have attended so many gatherings!  k16783695

We were greeted at the entrance of the church by nieces and nephews…

The small church was filled to capacity with people standing…

A wonderful show of love to Amy and her family… u14760854

We crowded together on the church pews… looking around at the people who had come… k14679649

hugging her Dad (my brother) and her sister and brothers…

Another sad event after burying a sweet great-niece earlier in the year…

Sadness seemed to be surrounding us these last weeks k4597498 …

Not a welcoming feeling... Not something you anticipate with gladness…

but… as a close family does…

we pull it together…

we talk…

we send some memento to the close ones… k17127808k13390048

we go…

we show our love!…

I know this family has been lifted up through much prayer and support…

as my brother addressed in his talk before us sitting in the church…

He mentioned moments of Amy… his youngest daughter…

A presence of stoutness… having endured so much in his 80+ years…

Her one brother of three… talked of his baby sister... k8117607 of her sweetness and caring way…

The pastor was right on target with his words concerning Amy…

consecrating her way of taking care of those she loved… u14353131

Actually… her life put aside to care for her ailing Mother for 8 years… k16763105

and just recently of her Dad…

We saw her in action… as she greeted us always with a hug… and sweetness…

wanting to immediately to DO for us... with a cup of coffee… a bite to eat… a kind word…

All of the time attentive to her dad… and his needs… k7876689

She will be remembered in this way…

Us… as bystanders in her life… not, the ones who lived day in-day out with her…

knowing her ways much more deeply as family does…

I loved what I saw… and feel blessed by having her as my niece…

After the service… prayer was said… and we exited for fellowship… in the church’s reception hall…

where a dinner had been lovingly prepared by the “church ladies”… that have taken on that duty…

A table held an array of photos of Amy’s life smiling days with her family…

The area was so packed with people… that additional tables and chairs were brought out… walls pushed back…

No worry of enough food as some thought… God provided with an abundance!… k7815677

Fried chicken… macaroni/cheese, corn, homemade green beans, rolls/butter…

Desserts of cookies and cakes… with hot coffee we were wanting for the cold day… plus lemonade and water…

A feast similar to the one I had attended the weekend before…

Talking between familiar faces and strangers to some of us…

a showing of care for the loss of a beautiful lady... and the emptiness she has left in our lives…

Good Bye Amy… God Bless!  car0143

  1. A table held an array of photos of Amy’s life… smiling days with her family… – and YOU, Marilyn, gave your best to write this blog-tribute for her, so we can imagine, what your family had to suffer…
