After making this wonderful bread…
it will be a “go to” recipe for special occasions or just when I get hungry for it!…
what a great gift too!
Homemade for sure!…
not, the simple , quick stuff I usually go for!…
Although after collecting my ingredients it was easy to put together!
Real flour, vanilla, juicy green limes, eggs, sugar…
and Cherry Pie Filling!…
“CHERRY LIME BREAD”
Makes 2 loaves
3/4 cup butter (I used margarine)
1-1/2 cups sugar
Beat well…
Add…
3 large eggs
1-tsp. vanilla
3-cups all-purpose flour
2-tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2- tsp. salt
Lime zest from 2 limes
(Grating limes for zest)
Beat well and then fold in…
1-1/2 cups sour cream
Grease 2 loaf pans and spoon 1/2 of batter into each pan evenly…
Divide 1- can of cherry pie filling between the two pans …
spooning on top of batter…
Top with the remaining bread batter… It doesn’t have to cover completely…
Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes…
Remove and cool on wire rack until cool… (10 minutes)
Meantime… whisk together…
3 – cups powdered sugar
Juice of 3 limes
until smooth…
Pour over top of breads…
Combine Zest of 1- lime with 1-tsp of granulated sugar until crumbly…
Sprinkle over glaze…
Let set for 15-20 minutes before wrapping…
I doubt that will happen!…
You will definitely have to taste one of these loaves…
Maybe freeze the other one… or give to someone to enjoy…
The best!
Isn’t it pretty!
