Long Days…Hard News…

It started months ago… but, came to a head on May 3rd…

My husband was going down hill… k4753819

I saw him weakening… hurting… and changes with him were evident…

trying to get answers was like going in circles… k10342439

No one seemed to want to listen… k20222185

Since doctors where he goes weren’t meeting our needs… EMERGENCY visits began…

and then that was quite useless at first…

but, a visit to the Emergency Room on Sunday night… May 3rd…

We finally got their attention! k21407704

Blood levels haywire… iron depleted… a mild heart attack!… k18062274

Admitted finally!… to the hospital…

Blood was started… iron was started… Talked to “US” finally… listening intently to our description of the last 3 months…

k1767105k15579354

Tests were started to find out where all of this blood and iron was going…

Many talks to doctors… k13048898

and on Wednesday or Thursday… It’s a blur…

after colonoscopy test… the culprit was discovered…

CANCER… k24472835k19193968

that dreaded word about jolted me to the floor…

my mind was swirling… k8698605

I was trying to listen intently…

My husband being out… (sleeping) from anesthetics… and knowing I would be relating this information to him…

The doctor  telling me, “This is the hardest thing for me to do… relating information like this to the patient and family”…

I do understand!

As Bobby awoke later in his room… He looked up at me and asked, “What did they find?”…

and by the look on my face he seemed to already know…

Then the week began…

Still more blood and iron… with the cancer taking it for it’s growth… 6 units of blood total… and 4 units of iron… k19255494

With surgery being the following Monday… he was allowed to come home for the weekend… to do a prep as if having a colonoscopy…

Two in one week… dehydrated him…

Arrived at hospital only to have to wait for three hours before actual surgery… k10327700

Thanks Melanie and Brian for keeping me company…

Out of surgery… operation went as expected… and all the doctors were pleased…

A week has passed… Finally home on the 16th… in time to spend some time with his sisters and a niece who had come up from Georgia…

No better medicine than that!

We are weak… but, getting stronger…

Incision hurts but, pain is easing…

So many meds… I had to make myself a chart… k2566252

Some of them will dissipate… pain meds… antibiotics and others will remain for a long time…

News that chemo may be subscribed… for precaution… and years were mentioned to life expectancy… k19028374

That will be in Gods hands!

Doctor visits to heart, cancer and others will tell us more…

But, for now… so glad to have my best friend home… and in MY care…

A BIG Thank You to all who prayed…k5318594 had encouraging words through visits and phone calls…

for food fixed to have for company visiting…

The support from friends, family and doctors/nurses  k13048897 k13048898  has been tremendous!…

Now to heal!
