Southern Vacation Part 4…

Didn’t really do the beach area like I would have liked…

but, our goal this year was to get to know Savannah better…

After a light breakfast at the Hotel… we drive to Savannah… deciding on a parking garage that was only about 2 blocks across from the River…

You walk down original stone steps to access the River Street…

with all of it’s shops, restaurants, cafe’s, vendors and street people showing off their wares…

We stopped for a drink … a Sangria with lots of fruit…

As we were sitting outside we had a nice conversation with folks from New York …

and noticed a lady sitting in one of the grassy areas making items from Palm Leaves …

My sister asked if she could make a cross…

“Absolutely!”, she said…

After seeing her and talking to her… I had one made also…

and promised to pick it up later…

They dry to a pretty tan color…

We meandered through shop after shop…

I really like the “Honey Shop” actually called… The Savannah Bee CO…

purchasing a lip gloss for myself, honey BBQ sauce for Mel/Brian…

and tasting the samples from all over!… of pure honey and even coffee flavored with honeysb_coffee_wholebean

and another store that is filled with beautiful items that depict the book…”Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil”…

and Bobby always has to talk to the “cigar lady” and BUY JUST ONE!

We ate lunch at The Warehouse and all I can say is “DON”T!”…

So bad, poor service … Mixed up all orders … and with the doors open… flies were pests!…

Of all the hundreds of places we chose wrong on this one!…

We walked… Bobby estimated… about 8 hours…

We offered to get car and pick up Carolyn, my sister…

We made our way back … only getting turned around a little…

Coming down the cobblestone street to the Savannah River’s Edge… was way cool!…

Bumping along until we spotted Carolyn…

We had made it to the end of the Street and sat down near
“The Waving Girl” statue… wavinggirl1 …

I think it is just beautiful!…

There are Steamboats anchored … waiting for customers to take tours…

Dolphin Tours also…vfiles38933

Tug Boats… vfiles41399 and Ships… cross under the Savannah River Bridge…

actually called… “Talmadge Memorial Bridge”…

which we crossed over heading to Cherokee, SC and Gatlinburg, TN the next day…

After a day of walking we drove down by the Ocean for one last walk and to eat at Fannie’s on the Beach…

Best food we probably had…

eating outside and taking in the scenery!
