Memories I Share- Keepsakes I Treasure- Gifts I Give

Rainy Day Happenings…

Rained quite a bit… this past week…

leaving us limbs/branches to pick up from all the wind…

and burning in our fire pit…

One of my favorite things to do…

That’s NOT being sarcastic… I really do love being outside and then sitting in swing watching the fire and feeling it’s warmth…

It was late afternoon when we began…

and slowly the sun set…

Lovely evening!

You know I always bake something…

today was Peach Upside Down Cake…

Use what you have is my motto…

and it was so good!…

1- white cake mix (mix as directed on box)… after you borrow an egg from a neighbor… oops!

Melt 1-stck margarine (butter) in bottom of pan… (my pan holds a whole cake mix)

then sprinkle about 1-cup brown sugar over that…

I had peaches (canned) so it is the fruit I used…

I did place them in a ring around the edge… and a few in the middle…

If you are going to make something… make it pretty!…

Pour batter over and I baked for 40 minutes… adjust as needed!

With the rainy weather… comes soup…

but, you know “I do easy!”…

2-cans Progresso Lentil Bean Soup

1-can Rotel… Walmart brand is just the same but, less expensive…

1-chopped sweet onion

Place in crock pot and simmer for a couple of hours…

flavors blend and taste so much better…

My Bobby really liked this “recipe”…

Flower Seeds are in the stores and I had such luck with these in-between my stone border…

I had to grab a few packs…

“Derby Day” (first Saturday in May) is planting day here!…

**********

Little Debbie Spring Cakes…

A must for my husband…

He is as bad as me with anything seasonal… especially these!…

or these!…

Just arrived in the mail…

I had picked up a used book at the VA Hospital to read from their give-away books…

called “A Light in the Window”… by Jan Karon…

Later found out to be from her “Mitford Series”…

Having read the second book in the series not knowing it was a series… I had to read more…

Ordering off the internet from EBAY was the answer… these 3 to start me off…

You might like this series… just light and folksy… if that’s a word…

  1. Lovely, lovely post! A warming fire, a scrumptious pudding and a good read – what could be better?! Love to you both 🙂

  2. I love Jan Karon’s books. I have all of them. And a new one is coming out this year. Happy reading.

  3. All the food looks delicious, the books are great. I haven’t read all the Mitford books, but the handful I have were delightful.
