Summer Has Begun!

Our “neighbor Grass Cutter” is back at it again…

I tell him, “You lucked out during the winter… no snow… so NO shoveling!”…

He took it upon himself to cut our grass after finding out Bobby’s diagnosis of terminal cancer…

(by the way!… it has been one year!… and he is doing good…)… YEAH!!!

and we have become good friends and neighbors as well…

As grandparents themselves…

they have taken on the role of parenting their Grandson who is “special”… autism and visually impaired

Good folk!…

Refusing payment…

I came up with making a dessert once a week for the family to share…

It seems to be welcomed…

The first time this year was VERY hot

so Bobby took Jim 2 mini Bud Lights … that we keep in the fridge…

Sometimes a cold beer is good when it’s hot… or with something you are eating like pizza or fish…

this worked fine!…

Day 2 of grass cutting was the day before Easter…

I made mini cheesecakes decorated a little for Easter

I hear that their little Grandson said, “These are just for me!”……

Probably because they had cherries on the top and he LOVES cherries…

This week I made Cranberry/Orange Breads

two for them and a small one for us…

This is therapeutic for me… and a way to show our appreciation…

Our “Glider” is the focal point of our front yard…

A place to rest and gather with neighbors/friends…

I painted the glider a brown to match the Adirondack chairs we have…

after Bobby added a few new screws…

He then laid Bricks at front of glider to keep grass from wearing down

planted grass seed… and then tried it out!…

“Excellent” job as always!…

With the big tree shading this area most of the day…

it’s our little sanctuary!…

**********

Flowers are budding…

Bushes we bought are taking hold…

seeds planted that I bought and even my neighbors have handed me some to scatter…

My youngest neighbor… planted me some “surprise” ones…

can’t wait!…

I did buy two ferns … one for the light pole in front and one for our Tire Parrot hanging in tree in back…

When Bobby was digging to place the bricks… another neighbor brings him new gloves to protect his hands…

and a bowl of her fresh lettuce just picked and two “HUGE” strawberries…

Don’t you know “I love it!”…

**********

Our ditch that runs behind our house has been in need of cleaning for “YEARS!”… and finally after complaining and making many phone calls it is being dug out…

4 feet of dirt had to be removed to reach bottom…

“THINK IT NEEDED IT?”

The water is now running freely and not just sitting there to stagnate…

Summer is already busy…

and WE LOVE IT!
