The Best of Times on a Hot Summer Day

Have been smiling a little more…

even laughing…

3 months has passed since my Bobby went to Heaven…

the feeling of knowing WHERE is so awesome…

The Lord continues to bless me every day…

pretty days…

hearing the birds…

watching the squirrels…

geese in school yards…

blue skies…

flowers in bloom…

green grass still in need of mowing…

calls and visits from friends/family…

I am not forgotten…

neighbors who check on me…

offering help…

bringing me small gestures of love…

a hug…

a kiss on the cheek…

WE gathered in my front yard this past weekend…

a mixture of the very young and older…

just a hodge-podge of good neighborly friends…

grass had been cut…

children had played in yard sprinkler…

talking and sharing of trips…

ideas…

everyday happenings…

sweating from working and playing…

pizza was ordered…

pizza with pepper and cheese

napkins/paper plates brought out…

drinks for all…

from soft drinks… for the youngsters

to beer… for adults…

even drinks of Dream Sickle and Apple Pie Moonshine passed around from a jar…

new friends even made…

bites of pizza offered from the little ones…

showing they accept us…

color, age, gender not even thought of…

drinks spilt…

birds happy for crumbs sprinkled on the yard…

my glider swung as feet pushed back and forth…

chairs and steps on front porch became seating…

We laughed…

Remembered who was missing…

and smiled…

The best of times on a hot summer day in my neighborhood…

  1. What a lovely Summer day, full of love and neighbourliness, smiles and friendship. You describe it all so beautifully, I felt I was there with you all. Love and hugs to you, Marilyn. :)

  2. All neighborhoods should be full of kindness, love, helping hands, laughter, and spending time together. I know you (and Bobby) are the HEARTS of your neighborhood. They are so bless. Hugs.
