“Pizza”… ANYTIME?

Gift…

Is it ever too late for PIZZA?  … I don’t think so… my family doesn’t think so… I bet you don’t think so…

We really haven’t eaten supper yet… We had a late lunch which was a full meal… but, that’s what I do more and more… because of being home…

Our big meal more in the middle  of the day…

From what I hear… a lot of people have or still do that…

But, when the hours go by… the hungries do come upon us … even at 8:00 pm

So I looked in the pantry and remembered I had bought a Pizza Kit…

My son has always loved these little boxed pizza kits… It comes in cheese or pepperoni… and we always get pepperoni

And if like tonight… I have some extra ingredients to add to it… I will…

Tonight it’s green pepper , onion and more cheese … PLEASE!…

It comes with a bag of dough mix… You just add warm water and mix until a dough  forms … I spray a little Cooking Spray on the dough itself… and then turn it over and do it on the other side… Then it rests on top of my stove while the oven is pre-heating

After about 10 minutes… I turn the dough on a sprayed pizza pan… and spread it with my hands  until it is to the edge… I might even spray my hands a little… if sticking to the dough…

The kit comes with a small can of sauce with little pepperoni in it…

Spread it all over the dough… It also come with a small bag of Parmesan Cheese  to sprinkle all over the sauce…

As I said… I chopped up additional ingredients of onion, green pepper and added some shredded cheese on top…

Bake for 20 minutes  … and ou la… that is Italian isn’t it???… Home cooked 12″ pizza… hot… right out of the oven…The Chef responsible for this neat little kit is Ettore Boiardi

You may recognize the name as Chef Boyardee when you buy kids canned pasta  like ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti/meatballs, etc. …

He was an Italian-American immigrant… Opened up a restaurant called Giardino d’ Italia in Cleveland , Ohio in 1928…

After customers asked for his recipes and ingredients like the TV commercials state… he decided to open up a factory …The company has gone through 3 owners but, the products are now made by …and still depicts the likeness of this wonderful chef…

Now… time to try our late supper… thanks to Mr. Boiardi

… and my love for pizzaANYTIME!

“Let’s Have Pizza!”

My house smells like “Pizza” tonight…you either love the smell or hate it…My Dad didn’t like it when we cooked pizza or homemade chocolate fudge…go figure??? best smells in the world to me…I ate my first pizza when I was about 6 years old at my Aunt’s house  …she made it from scratch…and I thought it was about the best thing I had ever eaten…and now that I think about it …this was quite unusual for someone to make it…as years passed, Pizza became a real treat!…Pizza Parlors were popping up all over the place…When I was first married my husband didn’t like it …but, after visiting our favorite Pizza Parlor with my sister and brother-in-law, he began to try it more and more and began to like it…now, we both prefer all the veggies and meats…I guess you would call it a “Supreme”We’ve eaten hand tossed, deep dish, thin crust, stuffed crust…and the list goes on and on…some frozen pizzas are really good and some are quite awful!…tonight we made my oldest son’s favorite…a boxed pizza…”Chef Boyardee”it’s a kit…make your own pizza dough …sauce with small pepperoni and sprinkle Parmesan cheese  …you have to let the dough rise for a few minutes…spread on pizza pan and add sauce and cheese…other toppings if you want…but, right from the kit is preferred…my Grandkids  …the 2 of them that stayed all night helped make it…I cut it in squares after baking and Carson, my youngest grandchild who is six ate 5 pieces…He loved it! Kennedy ate a few pieces, but chocolate cake rolls won her over more than pizza…Doug, my son and I finished off the rest…Carson loves participating when I cook…he helps his Mom all the time…and I have found that when he does this, he eats a lot of what he helped make…so a good “ScoobyDoo” movie  , pizza, coke and snuggled under blankets on the couch  makes us happy…even if I have watched the same movie over and over and over…

“MY KIDS”…

My kids at school ate pizza about 3 times a week…we called it “School Pizza”…it was cut into rectangles…and not all that good…but, then they began serving Papa John’s Pizzaon Tuesdays…this was many years later…the cafeteria did serve other food choices but, this was “THE CHOICE!”…amazing how kids love tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni on bread dough   …but, they do and adults do too…When we were through with our Christmas Bazaar and had counted our moneys    that we had made…the big deal was that we gave the kids who had worked so hard a “Pizza Party”…this usually came on the last day before Christmas Break also…One time the owner of a “Convenient Store” near my house had befriended a lot of our students…we did what was called “Community Based Education”…we helped in his store by straightening the products on the shelves  , taking out trash , dusting, stocking…etc. ….because the students didn’t really earn any money   for doing these small jobs…it was just a learning process…like pre-vocational training…the owner of the store took the students shopping at the mall and went to have pizza at Gattiland for a job well done…another time after visiting this store owner’s fishing pond , riding four wheelers and horses…they were treated to pizza again at “Bearnos Pizza” near the “Convenient Store” where they had their Pre-Voc training…as you can see “Pizza”   is just awesome…kids just love it!…it can be used for parties, a get-together, incentives…or eaten while watching the same movie over and over and over…
