A “Doctor” That Still Makes House Calls!

Gift…

I had to go get the Doctor today… I had waited until I couldn’t stand it any longer… It was evident it was in need

It was calling out in pain

Had actually started smelling pretty bad

Had many different colors in different stages of sickness

I had heard I could find the Doctor at several clinics near by

That’s what I needed… a quick trip to save its life

The first clinic said, “Sorry… the Doctor is out and I don’t know when he will return”…

So off to the next one… It had to be today… It was in too much pain to wait another day!

I was so happy to find the Doctor in at our next place of business… Actually they had two Doctors… and proceeded to tell me how each worked…What a good job each one did…

It was in such need… and I knew I had to be able to carry the Doctor in my car and get him into my house…

Yes, this Doctor does house calls

He’s upright… doesn’t cost too much for his services … and offers several products…  just use what you like… He really doesn’t care… He stands by his work… Guaranteed to give you his best

All you have to do is…

Have some energy

Read directions

Know how and what he likes to eat

Provide power Push the right buttons

and hope he stands by his work…

Actually YOU are the main ingredient in this Doctoring process…

You are the one who is going to push… pull… fill and unload

You are the operator

I’m talking about the “Rug Doctor”… That machine that has come to my rescue many times over the years… Actually it has come to mycarpet‘s ” rescue… Summer traffic had done a number on it… Grease. grime, food stains and plain old dirt!

It’s the Holiday Season and I wanted my carpet clean before I put up my tree or decorate

The Rug Doctor does a great job!… It’s easy to use…

It uses a liquid concentrated detergent for carpets… or you can use any type of cleaner you prefer… You fill with water and soap solution in the bottom container… Then a top container collects all of the dirty water extracted from the carpet with the vacuum part … Empty dirty water when full… and repeat process…

It just takes some muscle… Not for the faint at heart…  But, taking your time and taking a break every now and then… It does a very good job!…

It rents for a mere $26.00 and I got a rebate  for $7.00… which I will mail tomorrow…

I have 24 hours before I have to return it…

I felt it was a great deal… and am very pleased with the job it did…

The only drawback I can see so far… is how I will feel tomorrow… maybe a little sore… maybe a little tired … but, now my Christmas Tree can go up and company is welcome …

Thanks Mr. Rug Doctor… for your house call!

Who’s Coming?

Gift…

I haven’t been outside today except to get the broom and mop off of the back deck…

I’ve dusted… cleaned carpet… run the vacuum … wiped and swiped…’til things are shining…

I’ve straightened… put things away… folded …’til everything is out of sight…

I’ve washed things… dried things …polished things…”til there’s a sparkle on everything…

I’ve chopped… mixed… stirred … cooked… baked and tasted …”til things seem just right…

I’ve taken a shower… washed my hair… put on a little make-up and dressed… “til I smell as sweet as a flower…

Can you guess what is happening???

Company is coming!… And everything has to be ready!…

To have company is special… and we were taught to give them your best… Whether that be with food … good manners… a clean bed  to sleep in … plans for entertainment if for a few days…

I think you get the picture!…

How do you prepare and greet company at your house?… Similar?… or do you have different traditions?…

Does it matter if it’s just for a few hours?… for a few days?… In town? .. or from another state?

Does it matter WHO the person/persons are?

Write a few words… I’d love to hear from you!

Things Are Looking Spiffy!

I’ve been cleaning out my kitchen cabinets …My husband is refinishing and painting the doors and drawer fronts  … Looking quite spiffy!…The least I could do was clean and rearrange my pots, pans , bowls, utensils and silverware while he was beautifying the rest…We are a handy little team…always have been… I guess you say we “compliment each other”… I almost said, “Complicate” each other…That too sometimes! …It feels good to get the dust out …line with new shelf paper…and throw out things I’ve not used in a long time… It gets to be less each time… I feel that’s a good thing!…I found my sister’s compote bowl she has been searching for… more like asking everyone for… I didn’t even know I had it!… but, when I pulled two of the same thing out of the back of one of the lower cabinets… I knew I was the culprit… I called and confessed“I was so worried about it!”, ha,ha! …I didn’t find anyone elses bowls or pans… but, I bet I have a few at someone’s house just waiting to be discovered … Is it time for a cupboard cleaning? … I’m missing a clear glass plate with a gold edging… Anyone seen it?

“My Kids!”…

We had cabinets in our kitchen area at school … There were actually four kitchen areas… but we only used two… They were built in the schools when Home Economics  was taught… No more… so they weren’t kept in working conditionWe don’t need to learn to cook, measure  or bake  anymore, or do laundry anymore , or learn to make a bed anymore, or sew anymore How obsolete! …but, we tried to teach these things to our students…We called it pre-vocational training… I believe there are still families who need to be fed… restaurants that need chefs … I still believe there are bakeries who make cakes and desserts… I still think we have hotels that need to be cleaned and beds made beside the bed you sleep in every night… I still think we need to keep our clothes clean… and not wash something dyed red with the whites… I think we still lose a button every now or then and that maybe there are clothes designers making wonderful salarys…But, who are we?… We just thought it might be handy!… We also taught our kids to keep things clean… and cleaning out the cupboards  was a task we showed them how to do… soapy water …cleaning detergents…and elbow grease…And guess what? …We sometimes ran into that lost item we had been looking for Now where did that baking pan go?
