Weekly Photo Challenge: Good Morning!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A good morning begins with me looklng out of my kitchen window…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Every morning I’m greeted by this cute face… wanting me to play with her and her string… A “good” way to start each morning!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When Grandkids are over…they think a “good” morning starts early with pancakes…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

but, my coffee pot is what makes my morning a “Good Morning”!

Daily Prompt; Feed Your Senses

Write down the first sight, sound, smell, and sensation you experienced on waking up today. Pick the one you’re most drawn to, and write. (For a bigger challenge, pick the one you’re least drawn to.)

Photographers, show us one of the five senses — bonus points for depicting a smell!

As I awaken… I hear my husband… rather I sense him…

After you are married for so long as us… you have a sense of when each other is around… sometimes what each other is thinking… and what they are going to do

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Usually in shorts/t-shirt… But, love this recent photo…

SIGHT…

I’m a little cloudy in my thinking, but, know there is coffee already made… I smell it and after pouring a cup… I take that first sip Just right!… He has always made better coffee than me… but, he says, “Can you make a pot of coffee… it always tastes better when you make it”… so go figure!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

SMELL…and TASTE

My next sound is my cat Jill meowing low… and right at my feet… needing her morning scratch on her soft fur that I run my fingers through and a few words as to how pretty she is… and that she is my baby…

TOUCH

I feel that it’s maybe going to rain, but my husband says,”NO, it says it’s going to be cooler and beautiful!… just a cold front coming through”… Meaning about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday…

I step outside and I’m met with a breeze that just wants to be breathed in… so refreshing!…

I tip toe through the damp grass to our glider to sit and just enjoy this wonderful air… and my coffee… Joined by Bobby for a few minutes… and we chit-chat about different things…

I hear the door of my neighbor’s house and I say, “Good morning”… She ambles over and sits where Bobby had just left… He starts watering the flowers… and we talk about her day… what she is going to do today…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is not long until the phone rings… which I had brought outside with me and my niece is on the other end… Sherry excuses herself and waves good-bye

Cheryl’s and my conversation goes from this to that… but, mainly about her daughter’s graduation party Saturday…

“Yes, we will be there”, I say… I loved hearing about the food… and other things she has planned…

HEAR…

My view of this morning if someone asked… was perfect!

A wonderful summer morning… with all my senses awakened …

What more could I want!

Daily Prompt: Early bird, or Night Owl?

I’m both…

I love getting up early… and having the whole day ahead of me… My only stipulation… since I’m retired… is that I get up when I want…k11730938

Usually this is pretty early… because I love that first cup of coffee by myself… Nice and hot with a little cream… u16966773

I like my morning routine with my kitty cat

Her talking to me… getting her scratching and rubs… and me getting a few wet scratchy tongue kisses on my hand… leg… foot… well, wherever she decides…szo0016

I then check my emails… Facebook… blogs…u13656209

also checking the news by internet

Afterwards… I might wander outside on pretty days watching the sun risek9055265 … sit in our swing… drink a few more drinks of coffee k1098975 Pick a weed out of the flower beds u21492557 … listen to the birdsk10285438 …and watch our crazy squirrels

At the beginning I said I’m both…

You hadn’t forgotten that had you?

I say I’m a Night Owl too… because I watch my favorite TV shows k6481286 late because that’s when they are on… I seem to get a second wind later at night… and also since daylight savings time… we have longer days…. and I don’t want to waste a minute of it!…

I seem to actually fight going to bed… the fight being inside of me

I keep finding something to do… be it readingk12110670 computer game… or bloggingSSH0003

But, when I finally lay down k8266661 … It feels awesome and I am fast asleepk11199174

So I’m an early bird catching the worm k0565114

They make me smile

What a great way to start my day!

I Need My Glasses!

I’ve broken my glasses …Well, I don’t really take all the blame … I feel they were rather flimsy… have had to have then straightened many times…But, I liked how they looked and kept them … So that’s the part I will accept as blame…They are going to fix them…solder them I think …or if not all new frames… I’m hoping for the fix!… because they are out of warranty ….I cannot find one pair of my old glasses…so I’m wearing a pair of my husbands …they look so cool…You Know It!… and a little blurry too…but, I have no choice!… My husband says I’m not very careful with my glasses…laying them down anywhere …have sat on them …have stepped on them …don’t use the case they gave me to protect them… Hmm???… I give up… Guilty as charged! … I admit it!… I’m the blame for you breaking …but, I promise to do better when I get you back…I miss you, glasses … Come back soon!

“My Kids”!…
The first student I think about where it concerns glasses is Ron …I met Ron the first day on the job at TJMS… I was new…he was new… and I had no idea what to expect… The first thing he asked me was, “Where can I get coffee?”… Coffee? … Students can’t have coffee… but, thank goodness I didn’t say that to him at that moment… I had learned to say… “I’ll check on that”… As we got to the room I did ask of his concerns… being a Special Needs child… things were addressed differently at times… We found he did have to have his coffee…kept him calm…and a thermos was sent from then on with his Foster Parent‘s consent… She said, “You will like him much better with coffee” … Since we liked ours , we knew she was right!… We found that if Ron didn’t get his coffee or if Ron didn’t get his way…his way of showing his discontent was to jerk off his glasses  and proceed to break them… He went through quite a number of pairs during the years in our class … We probably would have benefited from a soldering gun … The little kit we had that was for glass repair was just not efficient enough for the damage Ron could do!

“My Time!”…

I love getting up early before anyone else …It’s my quiet time…I can check my email and Facebook  …I can start writing my blog …I have my first and only cup of coffee for the day…I open the blinds and doors and peek out…Usually nothing is stirring yet…I like it!…The sun makes its way over the big hill up above our house…Sometimes you think it’s going to be a cloudy day…because it takes a while for it to make its way …I straighten up a little…I watch the  of the day…I am usually contemplating about what the day has in store…appointments, grandchildren activities, who might be coming over, my “To Do” list …I check my calendar…making adjustments if need be…I say my silent prayer for my family…and anyone else in need…This time of day…it belongs to only me for awhile…It’s nice!…As the sun begins to get higher…I look out my kitchen window and notice my birds starting to land near the bird feeder …My momma and daddy Sparrow are still feeding their youngster who was born at the beginning of summer…”He is rotten!”, I say…because he can fly to our deck, but his parents are still feeding him …It has been so neat watching this little family all summer…It won’t be long before my cat Jill, will find me…She’ll want her rub as she sprawls on the kitchen floor …I’ll get tiny licks of affection…I love her too!…Then it won’t be long until my Bobby awakes and comes in with a “Good Morning!”…and “You’re up early!”…Coffee is ready for him…his favorite drink  …and the day begins!

“My Kids!”…

Our students use to arrive quite early…The male teacher and aide met the buses …as we waited in the classroom for them to arrive… I felt sorry for them…some having to arrive so sleepy …I knew how I felt, so I could sympathize with them…Everyone was in their seats by 7:30am…I do have to say, most came in “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed” as the saying goes…usually happy and glad to be with us…We would be checking attendance to see who was there …I would collect any notes or assignments from them …and then take the “Breakfast Crew” to the cafeteria …The cafeteria people took care of our wants really well…My free coffee every morning was a blessing … After that, I was ready for the day…They had great cinnamon rolls , pancakes/sausage on a stick , biscuit with sausage, coffee cake and muffins at times and of course the ever popular cereal choices…The students who had already eaten breakfast would stay in the room with the teacher and other assistant…We had a  communications department…They broadcasted the news and weather report over the TVs in every room each morning and anything of importance happening at the school…They did a great job!…Some of our students were broadcasters too… We had a few minutes to check our email…because almost all of the important information concerning school activities was done this way…and then I took a few kids to different parts of the hallway to collect attendance folders …a learning exercise for our special students…It didn’t take too long , before they were on their own!…and this is how our school day began!

“Just Around the Corner”

It was a pretty day today…warm, sunny, no coat weather…Bobby washed his truck…I went shopping for awhile…after I got home I fixed us some lunch and made coffee for my Bobby…his favorite beverage cold weather or hot weather…doesn’t make any difference to him…I prefer very cold drinks…and ice cream in the winter when it’s freezing, even more than summer… so we’re both a little unusual with our likes…Bobby had went outside to his favorite spot…the swing under the tree  near our deck…he can sit there for hours…just relaxing and drinking his coffee…I joined him…I can peek out of my kitchen window   and see the chain moving …I know he’s in the swing!...for some reason that makes me happy…as I came out of the house our little neighbor   was talking to Bobby and wondering where I was…this is why I love warm weather…getting outside, talking to the neighbors…catching up on each others activities and news…I almost went back in the house to finish something when he said,”I like you here”…I just loved that…so simple but, meant so much…that’s my Bobby…My neighbor has given me numerous flower bulbs her sister sends to her in the fall…she shares her flowers and I share my cookie baking with her…we both looked to see if they were coming through the dirt…yes, a few are pushing through…I love watching them grow…inch by inch…faster as the air and earth warms…starting as green shoots, then a few leaves, then a bud and finally after a month they open up and a flower appears…how wonderful!…I have tried to plant flowers and plants that will come up year after year…some have really taken hold and others are still trying…I’ve been given plants, I’ve bought plants, I’ve transplanted plants from other’s yards and I have a rose that has been at 4 different residences…and still comes to life and blooms each spring…We plan on working in the yard tomorrow with the temperature getting near 75 degrees…maybe I’ll find another little plant peeking out letting me know  is just around the corner!

“MY KIDS”…

Our students loved the warm weather just like us…no more coats…no more runny noses, no more waiting for the school bus in the cold…We tried to go on a few field trips as soon as it got warm…our first one was to Camp Crooked Creek   near Bernheim Forest  , we sure liked going there…just as at our homes and school the flowers were beginning to peek out, the trees were turning green with  new leaves, the water  was so clear and sparkly with the sun shining on it …the fresh smells of outside just made us feel good…we did a lot of activities bow and arrow, BB Gun shooting at targets, rafting, canoeing , and pontoon boat riding…we made some type of craft, had our faces painted   with our favorite team insignia or maybe a cute flower or butterfly…we ate outside sometimes after saving picnic tables as soon as we got there…some of the kids hiked   and returned with a story or two about what they had seen…which was sometimes a deer…just as the warm weather opened up the buds on the flowers I saw our kids opening up like they had been asleep for along winter’s night…so happy, so carefree,  running and trying out everything that was offered, greeting people they knew from past years…they were coming to life just like my little plants…letting us know that Spring was just around the corner!
