Sunday Grateful: October27, 2013… PEZ Candy

We had a knock at our door this morning… actually knocks and doorbell ringing again and again…k14811626

Who could it be?

It is so early for Sunday visitorsu18538876

Maybe my Grandkids… more like my youngest son (their dad)… as far as the doorbell ringing… over and over again… He’s known to be quite “funny” at times…

But, no… it was three little boys… three of the ones who had pestered me yesterday at my Yard Salek0838422 https://babyjill7.wordpress.com/2013/10/26/ill-never-do-it-again-ha-ha/

They had come by over and over looking through the PEZ Candy Dispensers justiceleague__38535_1322497926_400_400

I had for sale…

I wanted to sell them as a group… if I could… I had over 60+… probably more… just estimating… and know people collect them… Halloween_SmFeature2013

At the end of the day I had given them all to one of the boys… since NOW… that I wanted to talk to them… they had all disappeared…k13808920

Isn’t it the way!..

I had him promise me  k9583610 to share the “wealth” k0335677 with all of the others…

I found out he did just as I asked…

Loved that!… made me happy inside

but, now they wanted candy to put in them… k5119294

I didn’t realize I needed to fill them up before I gave them away…

How stupid of me!… k0376157

I had to inform them that I had no candy… but, Wal-Mart could help in that direction for a couple of dollars… pgi0161

One looked at the other two and said, “I told you!”… and immediately thanked me

k13175882

They all said thanks… k15101753

Is that not a grateful!…

That they had the manners to say Thanks!…

They left… and I feel they were on a mission at this pointk3735920

To talk Mom or Dad into candy to fill their  PEZ …

What do you think?

A Vintage Find…

Gift…

OK… I went to a peddler‘s mall today

… I used to have a booth there… I sold my collection of ceramic Kitties(cats) and Puppies(dogs)  … There were planters, salt/pepper shakers, statues, etc. … I also sold Children’s books with a stuffed animal that matched the book… and furniture that I painted with designs

It has changed ownership since I closed my booth…

I browse around… never knowing what might catch my eye

Today I saw a vintage item

I had to feel it look at it for several minutes… check out the price  … decide… “Do I need this???” … No, but I just have to get it!…

I love things that are  … and this fit the description

I had never seen any like it before… Cute as could be… and useful also… although I don’t plan on using it…

I want to display it probably… and I might make some… I believe I can… What a cute gift for my nieces… and friends…

What I found… was a vintage Pot Holder… Actually a set of three in one… White and red material… stitched in blackHand stitched… which is what I love…

Three ladiesBonnets representing their faces… and the skirts are the 3 pot holders that can detach… due to having snaps

Rick Rack decorates their Skirts and Bonnets… In excellent condition… No tears… no stains except a little yellowing of the fabric that is hardly noticeable… and oh… it only cost $2.75… Things are always a little pricier in a peddlers mall than a thrift store… but, they had me!

I might try to soak in some Clorox II… non-bleach … to brighten it up… and then maybe not…

Just had to share my find…

“Small Changes” for Summertime

Gift…

I love making small changes to my home during the year… As simple as changing the centerpiece on my kitchen table… along with some cute place mats…

Since it’s summertime… I came across these cute… brightly colored place mats… that said, “SUMMERTIME” all over them… not literally… just in the design

What says summer more than hotdogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, watermelon, lemonade, ketchup/mustard, ants and bumblebees … A picnic in the making!…

My next find that I thought was a perfect start for a centerpiece was a long glass dish resembling a picnic cloth of red/white check on top of grassHow cute is that!…

I found neat salt/pepper shakers that resemble ketchup/mustard bottles… I had to have them!…

I wanted some kind of light in the form of a candle… What’s better than a lawn chair candle holder in bright yellow… That definitely would work!…

A crocheted watermelon pot holder put in a little picnic basket… a unique find at my favorite Thrift Store

Also some unique coasters … That went along with the theme I was creating… Hotdogs… hamburgers… ketchup/mustard…

I couldn’t pass up the small drinking glass that has an outside liner filled with water with what looks like watermelon seeds floating over the watermelon decorations that adorn this sweet glass… I have it pictured upside down where you can see the effect of the floating seeds and sparkles… I’ll probably stick a live flower  from my yard in it…

I’m pleased… It makes me smile every time I walk by… So I would say, “My design idea was successful!”… I like that!…

Now maybe a little bumblebee to attach to the basket… My mind is always a clicken’…

“Coca Cola” Night

Memory…

My son has (had) a neat Coca-Cola collection of various items …Needing room and as we get sometimes, a little tired of this hobby…I’ve taken it on myself to EBAY it…It just took two days to take pictures of everything!…After you go through these items individually…you see how really neat this hobby could be…The great clock …the truck full of little coke bottles …the unusual signs …the nostalgic “Coke Ladies” …and of course the “Coca-Cola Santa … I was very young when I had my first “Coke”…They came in a six-pack of short greenish bottles that could be returned for a few cents…You actually had to use a bottle opener to open them…Of course I was “hooked”!…I don’t guess there’s a better sensation than opening up a really cold bottle of Coca-Cola and taking that first sip Coke just goes with everything!…On Friday nights my Dad would usually bring home this little six pack…with some kind of salty thing to eat…or popcorn was popped…He watched “The Fights” (Boxing ) on Friday nights…and of course that’s what we had to watch too…It was just understood…Only one TV and in black and white for quite awhile…yes, I remember my first TV experience too!…You didn’t just get to open up as many Cokes as you want as kids do today…You got one for the week and you savored it!…It made things “special” …Sitting by my Dad acting like I loved watching “boxing”…and enjoying my “Coca-Cola”…a wonderful memory!

“Recent Collectables”

I have collected different things all my life…  My favorite things were blue and white dishes…Plates , cream pitchers , vases , figurines, tea cups , etc. …I just loved it!…I had a curio cabinet full of all my special finds …People would  give it to me…bring me a small souvenir of it …I looked at flea markets , thrift stores  and craft shops…It didn’t have to be expensivejust a unique piece…A few years ago I decided to simplify …get a little more modern…So after a Victorian stage , a Country stage  and an Eclectic stage…I decided to accent my living room with black accessories…I still looked at flea markets  and thrift stores, because I found out it was the hunt for that unique piece that I really liked…Simplify” may not be the word for what I’m doing…although I am trying to resist buying unless it’s a great accent…

So here are a few of the pieces I have found so far…

  Horse Planter

   Horse Bookend +Pen Holder

  Zebra Wall Pocket Planter

    Little House Covered Dish

     Covered Dish

“My Kids!”…

My kids collectables consisted of pencils …some would pick up any pencil they could find…the smallest to the brand new…Of course there was always a pencil lying on the floor in our hallways…So, to pick one up was doing a good deed…but, at times their pencil box overflowed …They were like little treasures to them … “I get it”…because I am a treasure hunter too …only looking for different things …And then there was the crayon hoarders…We had a communal box of crayons  for everyone to use if they had no crayons of their own…but, all of a sudden they would all be gone…so to Derrick or Josh’s desk we went…sometimes even Christian’s…and there they would be…I doubt they even realized they were accumulating  so many…until we cleaned out their desk…but, it was always the same boys… And then there were the infamous paper collectors …When we cleaned out some of their desks…we found papers from 3-4 months back…They just couldn’t throw anything away…The backpack clean out…same situation!…No matter how heavy they got…they trudged on with that heavy backpack full of outdated papers every day…They just couldn’t get rid of their collectables…Maybe they’ll learn the term “Simplify” some day!
