“To Be Free! ”          by: Marilyn Griffin

In Autumn’s night…

It rises full…

Fire color in light…

Reddening pool…

The Red of the Moon…

The color of Blood…

Hunters gather soon…

Traipsing through mud…

k7308487

Their weapons drawn…

Looking here and there…

Used as their pawn…

Of animals rare…

First the sound…

Then in sight…

Looking around…

Deer in plight…

Eyes appear wide…

Fur wet with sweat…

Others have died…

As hunters met…

Run, it snorts…

Run very fast…

Shots abort…

Free at last!

A Little Part of My Earth…

What do I do for Earth Daytco0008 or for the Earth in general for that matter?

k7576325

Actually… I don’t know

Let’s see…

I don’t litter…

I don’t waste materials… by recycling wrapping paper, ribbons, cards, etc. …

I use things I find at thrift stores in different ways… recycling them into something new…k3159405

I plant flowers for the bees and insects…

Columbine blooming…the prettiest …daintiest little hanging flowers…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Our first start of a blackberry bush/vine…

I save grass clippings and such for a compost

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Compost of grass clippings, leaves, etc. …

I try to limit garbage… by burning any excess papers , cardboard and such in our fire pit

I pick up limbs and twigs off of the yard from our big trees to burn in fire pit also…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fire pit for burning safely…

“NINER” was my maiden name…This piece of concrete header was sitting atop a stone pillar at my Mom and Dad’s house…

On, no!… Don’t tell me I’m polluting… by burning my picked up twigs…

Have I undone everything I thought I was doing for our Earth?…

Please tell me NO!…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Backyard… The grandkids love playing ball back here and hide and go seek…

I guess the main thing I do is try to keep “my little part of the world”… clean, fixed up, repaired and green…

My small contribution…

“The Treasure Candle”…

I found this unique candle at my favorite Thrift Store

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sometimes I see things as little gifts to give to someone… since it was wrapped and brand new… but, I have decided I need a treasure sometime… so I’m going to keep this… and follow the directions placed with it…

It is called a “Treasure Candle”…

This is “The Fable of the Treasure Candle”… rolled up like a tiny scroll

Once upon a time, in a distant land, there lived a fair Princess k9912365who was in love with a brave young Knight. But, alas, the Knight k12693601was imprisoned by a most evil king.

After longing for her beloved for many a month, the Princess conceived a clever plan. She traveled to a mystical kingdom deep within the earth where she gathered crystals and stones k6128414k6430353with magical powers.

Upon returning home, she made a candle k5414868 in which she concealed the treasures. Then she arranged to have it delivered to her lover in his cold dark dungeon.

The sad and disheartened Knight welcomed the gift of light and immediately burned his candle k11167962 , unaware of its special powers. When the crystal revealed itself, a rainbow appeared from within k13027651 . A wave of joy and love swept through him as he realized the special nature of the gift.

At that moment, the crystal in the candle the princess was burning, also shimmered with a rainbow k4425640 . Then, lo and behold, the two tiny rainbows soared out into the heavens and became one. The power of their love was so great that they were drawn into the rainbow’s arc where neither prison walls nor evil kings could ever keep them apart.

Within this candle that I am the beholder of now… I will find a crystal and other gifts of the Earth, each with their own special power.

I have decided that what better day to burn this candle… So, I have lit it… and will give you an update later when what is discovered within

Weekly Photo Challenge: “Growth”

Gift…

I decided to check out my photos and see if there was anything that would depict “growth”…

The Oak Tree seed I found seemed to fit perfectly…

It’s hard to imagine how this small seed grows and grows until it makes The Mighty Oak Tree…

“Acorns into Mighty Oaks

When I leave this world I hope
I leave a better place
Where deeds I’ve done
And paths I’ve trod
Have helped the human race;
Where seeds I’ve sown will blossom still
And trees I’ve planted grow
From acorns into mighty oaks I hope I’ve made it so.

For to leave the world without a trace
No footprints in the sand
No memory in a loved one’s heart,
No mark upon the land,
No legacy to show you cared,
No promises to keep,
Must surely make it hard to face
An eternity of sleep.

…………………………………………………………

After reading a few poems I found about this awesome tree… I realized how special it truly was … to even be able to survive and “grow”…

To land in just the right place…

To survive the unknown surroundings…

To keep growing and finally have roots to push down into the soil…

To be watered by rain  sent to nourish it’s growth

To withstand harsh winters and hot summers…

To be left alone to grow without someone deciding it shouldn’t be …

To finally have enough strength to push its roots deeper and deeper into the Earth

To finally grow enough to stand alone…

To become shade from the sun…

To become a limb big enough to hold a swing

To become a writing tablet for lover’s to mark their place…

To become part of that treehouse built with love…

To become a nesting place for young fledglings  in the spring…

To hold a tinkling  wind chime  blowing in the wind…

To be strong enough for boys and girls to climb… looking out as far as they can see…

Maybe even tie a yellow ribbon around me…

…………………………………………………………..

The Acorn

An acorn on an oak tree grew,
The wind around him gently blew,
It whispered to him quite softly
‘Some day from your mother
You will be free
To grow and be a mighty tree’
‘Who’? ‘Me’? A mighty oak’?
The little acorn thought this a joke.

Cruel autumn wind whistled round
And knocked the acorn to the ground.
A little girl passing by
The small acorn she did spy
She picked it up but let it fall
Down a nearby rabbit hole.

All winter long it lay inside
Soon it withered and turned dry

In the springtime a shoot of green
From the acorn could be seen.
It grew and grew, as years rolled by
Soon it reached up to the sky.
So it was a tale come true
A mighty oak
From the acorn grew

One of the Oak Trees in my back yard…

I kept moving back to photograph the top…

and finally got it… about 60 feet tall…

I definitely think this shows “growth!”

Acclamations of “JOY”!

Gift…

Have you ever lost your JOY… I say lost…because I always FIND it again… I sometimes lose it when I’m disappointed, feeling lonely, sick, have a loss, things just not going “My Way“… I love the feeling of JOY  in my life… It makes me feel good… no other way to say it… It means everything is going in the right direction… I have found when JOY is not in my life… I seem to have tried to do things all by myself… and then I realize my “Helper” is always in my voice’s reach… So I go to my Lord in prayer  … asking forgiveness first… asking for guidance nextacting on His words that He lies on my heart and thanking Him as my JOY is returned…

“JOY”

There is JOY in being-

In a world like ours.

There is JOY in seeing-

It’s people and powers.

There is JOY in love-

We give one another.

There is JOY from above-

We extend to our brother.

There is JOY in our children-

Given by Him to us.

There is JOY in a friend-

Which I feel is a must.

There is JOY in speaking-

To someone of Christ.

There is JOY in seeking-

In just being nice.

There is JOY in each day-

That we spend here on Earth.

There is JOY in a sunray-

Seeing someone’s worth.

There is JOY in saddness-

Believe it or not.

There is JOY in happiness-

In everything got.

There is JOY in each night-

That sometimes we fear.

There is JOY in the light-

The sounds that we hear.

There is JOY in talking-

To someone we trust.

There is JOY in walking-

And things that are just.

There is JOY in belief-

In the “One” up above.

There is JOY in relief-

He gives through His love.

There is JOY in living-

Every day we are here.

There is JOY in giving-

To love-ones so dear.

There is JOY everywhere-

If we open our eyes.

There is JOY to care-

Learning to be wise.

“Love What Was Created!”

Gift…

My reading of a blog the other day got me to thinking… It said, “We were chosen by God and we were his design” How marvelous a thought that is!…Of course I would have designed me differently…I have some things I don’t like about my body and probably my abilities…but, to know God made me the way I am is an awesome feeling…He loves me  just the way I am!…and so I must do the same!…I love others just the way they are…so to accept myself should be easier but, at times it’s not…I had come to terms that I am OK…but, now I’m going to think of myself as someone so special …someone God felt was important to bring to this Earth …someone who must be here for a reasonIsn’t that grand!…Now to try to do the best I can for Him…Think about what I do and why…Always learning to better myself and be an example to others…Is that what He has wanted all this time?, but, we look too deep into ourselves and this life we are given …that we unknowingly don’t fulfill our duties as a child of God? …I’m still taking this all in…but, I know it’s been put in front of me for a reason…I will love myself and others as God intended …Sounds like a plan to me!
