To “Piddle” or Not to Piddle???

My cat  is sitting in front of the door…looking at the rain …she is so relaxed!…she lazily looks up at me and then just settles in more … and that is what the rain does for me too…You either go out in it…or stay home and piddle  in the house…I love that word …”Piddle”

do things haphazardly: to operate in a disorganized way, doing one thing and then another without a distinct purpose or method …very small or trivial…

that’s probably what I’ll be doing today…Let’s see…I haven’t even gotten dressed yet…my bed clothes are my attire at the moment …and not really very attractive…since it’s a gown my Momma bought for my birthday over 15 years ago…I’ll eventually throw it away…but, it’s sooo comfortable…the more it’s washed the softer it gets!…and it reminds me of her…I have fixed breakfast…Bobby’s favorite…French Toast    with bacon …I even ate a piece…I’ll probably cook a good dinner too…That’s what I do on rainy dayscook or bake …The rain seems to make it quieter too…we talk quieter…we do things quieter…and just look like “lounge lizards”  as my husband says… somebody who lounges around: somebody who sits or walks in a casual relaxed way…Yes, that fits us perfect… so here’s to “Piddling”…a quiet, relaxed, rainy  day!

“My Kids!”…

Piddling has two meanings…did you know?…the meaning I used…

do things haphazardly: to operate in a disorganized way, doing one thing and then another without a distinct purpose or method …very small or trivial…

and then “piddling” also means “urinating”…more than you wanted to know, huh?…this term is usually used by children when they have “TO GO!” It’s funny how kids use this excuse to get out of a lot of things…I have to_____…when taking a test I have to____…when learning something hard or different  ….I have to____…when wanting to get out in the hallway to see friends I have to____…when they just can’t concentrate on what is going on….I have to___…when they are bored …Actually, they usually say, I NEED to___…if NEED is used …it sounds more urgent…Have you ever done that?…So when someone needs to “Piddle” they probably are looking for a way out of the current situation they are in…Do you need to “Piddle”?

“French Toast” Might Help

My sister gave me a new granola type cereal to try that she found …I ate it this morning…not really wanting it…but, it was good!…We are trying to eat better foods, more fiber, less sugar, lower fat, etc. I always fix my husband   ,unless he gets up early and has his cereal…plain corn flakes, is his favorite…I guess you would guess his favorite milkshake flavorplain vanilla…Boring, I say!…but, to each his own…He does love French Toast…He would probably eat it every day…My Mom taught me how to make it…eggs, milk, a little sugar (), beat well and dip bread into the mixture and then fry in butter on both sides until golden brown…Texas Toast is awesome …I have been getting Sugar Free syrup for him since he is diabeticbut, if  I run out of syrup, my Mom also showed me how to make syrup from Brown Sugar, a little water and vanilla…just mix together in a saucepan and heat to a boil…boil just a little longer and when it cools a while it will thicken a little…sometimes my kids would rather have it…warm on pancakes, waffles or French toast…nothing better! Breakfast is an important meal to me…if I eat a little something I will be able to start the day off much better…Now, my favorite breakfast varies…I’ve been known to eat left over chili, left over pizza or a good omelet  if  I want to go traditional…my taste buds do vary…and to me breakfast can be dinner, lunch can be breakfast and dinner may be lunch…so if you came to dinner you would not know what meal to expect…aren’t surprises wonderful!

“MY KIDS!”…

I had to take a young man to eat breakfast every day in the school cafeteria …He was much bigger than me and I was just a little leery of his behaviors…he could turn on you in an instant…I always tried to remain calm, getting whatever he liked to eat that morning from the cafeteria…He ate in silence glancing around all the time…I never knew what to expect…sometimes he smiled and we walked back to class without incident…and sometimes he decided to “go off”  which is the way we described it…His food could go anywhere, on the table, floor or at me…He loved to grab your arm  and  I had fingernail marks on me for days later…I know you are thinking I didn’t  like this child …I did!…I just wondered what I did to cause him to do this…well, after a while you know it’s not you…it’s an imbalance in them…something just triggers this response from him…that’s what is so difficult about these children…When you work with them, you just want to help them, but at times you try to no avail…someone usually came to my aid…the aide needing an aide…funny, huh? I would tell them he will be alright…just try to calm him down and later you would never know he acted like that…I have since wondered if my wonderful French Toast and Homemade Syrup would have started his day off better! We got a male assistant to work with him later on…and he was wonderful…The young man responded much better to a male figure…and we found that to be true a lot…some prefered women and some prefered men… I believe it was usually something in their home life …Anyway, we saw our boy change so much with the care of this male aide…he worked one on one with him and he became his “Boy”!…they played, wrestled, laughed, went out to lunch together and got along really well…we saw this boy at a bowling alley years later and he responded to us with a grin and recognition, trying to talk to us…aren’t surprises wonderful!
