The Best Feeling…

I now know…  comfor_c

sadness…

what anxiety is like…

depression…

All… are not good…

I watch my husband hurting so much…

in his thoughts…

I hear his prayers… k9641379

I hear his desires…

I hear his fears…

I have no doubt about his salvation…

He had professed it when he was young… and ever since…

That I am so grateful for

I know keeping “busy” is the only help for us right now…

Having my son, Doug come over…

He helped us so much this weekend…

Cutting grass… k8201709

helping his Dad get dirt and mulch for the front yard…

they play tickets together…

and I smile…

Neither will ever be wealthy… but, this small bond is awesome…

My Brian calls with arrangements for Mother’s Day… k15507705

and places a bet for us on the Kentucky Derby…

and we find that we all have picked the same horse

but, we lost!…

Bummer!…

The Winner!

My oldest Granddaughter has been accepted to a program in college she has been wanting… Love good news!…

the youngest Granddaughter has picked out her 8th Grade Grad Dress…

and is going to look just beautiful in it…

The youngest Grandchild… a Grandson… cuts grass to earn some money…

He is not afraid to get dirty or work for his savings…

Already showing signs of responsibility…

To see these things… Makes Bobby so proud… prdprnts

as he thinks of wanting more time with them…

wanting to be in their future…

but, alas… like their other Paps… Poppy will not be there…

We go to my nieces for the day on Tuesday… at Rough River…

she has planned lunch and we hope for a pretty day to be outside…

Wednesday… another treatment all day…

and then Palliative Care meeting on Thursday… k2507145

DO NOT want to go!…

Don’t want to hear these things…

Maybe we won’t!…

Friday… his sisters come up from Georgia…

The best meds/treatment he can get!… k20933269

The most loving… caring… sisters… in the whole wide world!…

and we will laugh and surely cry… but, being together is so needed…

I wish all of you Mothers… a beautiful day!… k19234564

if raining like here in Louisville… still enjoy your family… sons and daughters…

The best feeling!…

“Happy Mother’s Day, Mom”

Memory…

I’m reblogging this from last year… It says it all…

I never knew it would be hard to write about Mother’s Day … I thought it would be a good idea…but, it seems to just make me sad … I’m determined though… and I know if I write about my Mom it will get better… My first memory of my Mom is when I was still taking a bottleyes, I do remember it… My dad built our first house and with tile floors on concrete … I could break many a bottle … It seems as I would finish it I would toss it on the floor… I was finished… Should I just hold it??? Anyway, at that time you could buy rubber nipples  to fit over the end of any bottle that had a neck … like a short Coke bottle… So I remember having a Coke bottle for a Baby bottle… cool, huh!… My Mom would tell me lots of stories… likeLittle Red Hen”  , Goldilocks and the Three Bears “, “The Three Little Pigs “…”Three Billy Goats Gruffand my favorite song she sang to me was “Playmate”I loved my Mom’s cooking… especially on the mornings we went on picnics  …fried chicken, macaroni salad… the smell of the old picnic basket…probably had absorbed every food scent put into it… it just smelled like picnics to me… funny, how smells relate to places and events… She would  make us cute sandwiches  with a big ol’ cookie cutter  she had… Even butter and sugar sandwiches taste good on fresh bread  with the crust cut off…I remember my Mom always being in good shape … I thought she was beautiful… dressed in her printed house dresses… maybe an apron  if cooking or canning… I loved watching her tend to her flowers  … a true green thumb… She could grow anything… transplanting a little twig of a plant all the time… We all knew she would rather be outside … walking around the eight acres Daddy had purchased when he got out of the Navy pulling a weed here and there … I find myself  following her example… People do look at you a little funny as you pull a weed out of a restaurants flower bed  or out of a neighbor’s yard… I just smile and say, “I can’t help it…my Mom did it”… I guess those walks in the yard … cutting grass… and having her flower and vegetable gardens was what kept her in such good shape … so natural… not an effort…I ‘ve just started and now I could write and write and write about Mother’s Day… I knew it would get better… Just thinking of my Mom makes me get happier and happier with all the wonderful memories of her… She would have been  103 years old this year … Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

“My Kids!”…

Some of our “Special” kids had really wonderful Mothers … You knew this because you met them, they came to the school for different activities, they came on field trips, they even sent us goodies as a … They sent notes, keeping us informed about their child… If a child talked about their Moms… that was always a good sign… There were a few who loved  their Moms… but, had been taken away from them for some reason… so sad!  … We had a child who would say they saw their Mom every time we were out… No, she didn’t… just wanted to… She was not to have any contact with her… Love of a Mother is a strong thing!… These small children only knew what they felt inside… taken away from their Moms had left a void … something that couldn’t be filled… So they attached themselves to us at times … We becoming a surrogate Mother for the time being… I always felt so bad when they moved on to another school… Who would become their Mom there?  … If I got anything from these scenarios it was that… Love runs deep in family ties … Love is so forgiving… Love while you can… Be glad to have loved and had a Mom that loved you… Happy Mother’s Day to all our “Special” Moms…

“Playmate…Come Out and Play With Me”…

Say, say, oh playmate,
Come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three
Climb up my apple tree

Shout down my rain barrel
Slide down my cellar door
And we’ll be jolly friends
Forever more more more more more

Say, say, oh playmate
I cannot play with you
My dolly’s got the flu
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo

Ain’t got no rain barrel
Ain’t got no cellar door
But we’ll be jolly friends
Forever more more more more more

A Treat For Mom!

Gift…

Have been busy already… Outside to check on my seeds I have planted… Coming up quicker than I thought… Been to water aerobics class …LOVE IT!… Makes me feel good all day!… Met a new little girl there with Muscular Sclerosis… Best attitude…terrific outlook on life… Doctor had told her the water aerobics would be good for her… I just hope she didn’t overdo today… She received lots of advice from all of us… on taking her time… and doing things at her own pace…

I’ll need to fix some lunch soon… but, when I checked my email … I saw this recipe from Pillsbury… and decided to share… Easy and yummy sounding!… maybe even good for a Mother’s Day  treat for breakfast…

Cinnamon Roll Waffles with Cream Cheese Glaze

INGREDIENTS

1-can Pillsbury Grands Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing

1-cup powdered sugar

3-tablespoons milk

1-teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS: 4 Servings

1. Heat waffle maker; spray with cooking spray. Remove Cinnamon Rolls from can; set icing aside.

2. For each waffle, place 1 Cinnamon Roll in center of waffle maker; close. Bake 3-4 minutes or until waffle is thoroughly cooked and golden brown.

3. Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir together reserved icing, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until glaze is smooth.

Pour glaze over hot waffles.

Be sure to spray the waffle iron in between each waffle. The sugar from the cinnamon roll can make the waffles stick.

These are also delicious served with real maple syrup instead of the glaze. Add some pecans for extra crunch.

ENJOY! Happy Mother’s Day!
