Picture One: The Establishing Shot
This is the big picture — where are we? For this shot, step back from the subject and put it in context. Think wide-angle.
Picture Two: The Relationship
This shot starts to get at what it’s like to be in the place you’re shooting by showing subjects interacting. Often, this means people connecting with one another — talking, involved in an activity together, or just looking at the same thing — but it doesn’t need to be. Inanimate items and scenery elements can interact, too.
Picture Three: The Details
The third image completes the scene by zeroing in on a detail, something you might not notice (or even be able to see) in the broader photos.
#Theme of the week, Post a day, http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/10/18/hue-photo-
I love neutral colors… beiges…tans…grays…creams…rustic…black/white photos…
with just a splash of color every now and then that just POPS!
Maybe I’m plain…maybe I’m blah… but, just maybe…
I’m at peace with myself!
Black/White Photos of Granddaughter and my Dad and Brother…
Granddaughter in a Champagne Colored Dress… couldn’t be more beautiful in my eyes!
Tree Bark with just that splash of color!
My lady statue… all in cream… so pretty… with details… doesn’t need anything else…
The different hues of Fall Leaves… makes me feel at peace…
Nature in her natural beauty…
The rustic bell makes me happy!
The wild toadstools (mushrooms) are so naturally pretty…
The rustic browns in the bricks laid in a semi circle step …
The worn brown color of my glider… just draws me to it…
The natural browns in my centerpiece… with a splash of greenish yellow… I just like!
An Iris of light golds… cream… browns… What could be prettier…
An older brown / white photo of my Dad when he was a young baseball player…
Just love it!
The gray / brown feather of a bird… left when eating from the birdfeeder…
My pale green / brown worn painted swing… gives me rest …
The sun faded fence with the neighbor’s dog peeking through…
makes me smile…
The tans… grays… creams in my bathroom wallpaper with just a “pop” of color…
I won’t tire of it soon…
The next time you’re in a public place — a coffeehouse, a park, a store — observe the people around you. Pick a person, a couple, or a group, and imagine what their lives might be like.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us IMAGINE.
I saw a precious lady at a wedding this past weekend… Maybe this is what her life is like…
Imagine… You Were Me! by: Marilyn Griffin
I look older at times …
and then some days younger…
My wheel chair binds…
At times I wonder…
I smile a lot…
My hair is long…
My life long fought…
It’s no one’s wrong…
I love my tennis shoes…
Bright orange they be…
My body gives clues…
That it’s just me…
I move my arms and hands…
Unable to control…
If only I had plans…
But, now I’m getting old…
I have love…
Surrounding me…
And that’s enough…
To keep me free…
I’m dressed up today…
My hair sprayed…
A red tinted display…
Combed and laid…
I love the look…
I get from a stranger…
Looking from nook…
As if there’s danger…
I’m not to fear…
Just a little different…
Come on near…
My heads just bent…
My illness…
I’m born with…
Is relentless…
Just forget that myth…
I’m just like you…
Just caught in this form…
Laughing – wanting to do…
Just the way I was born…
After a very hard downpour… these photos of my back yard were shot within an hour of each other… just glad it didn’t last for a long time… a taste of what flash flooding can do!
No, you can’t have it!
Maybe I’m too old to get wet…
Wind not cooperating…
I am a …………
My view…
Might bring some LUCK…
That’s really me???… I’m not even wearing a dress!
Me again??? My skin has turned as rough as a tree trunk!
Sun setting… looking WEST…
Looking EAST…
He laid them one by one…
Oh no!!!
One or two???
Write about something that happened over the weekend as thought it’s the top story on your local paper.
Photographers, artists, poets show us something from your WEEKEND
…and then they were ONE!
The weekend finally arrived after much preparation…
The bride and groom looked stunning…
The locals attending were dressed in their finery…
The church bells rang as they kissed and confirmed their commitment…
Racing down the steps of the church…
Applause and well wishes abounded!
They were one!
The camera captures happy days of cousins…
and in a fleeting moment one of them has passed…
In a fleeting moment my Granddaughter has moved on to Middle School… after what seems like days that she started first grade…
In a fleeting moment this awesome sky will dissipate… changing form as we watch…
Captured in a fleeting moment… this awesome sweet face of a great-great- niece…
This fleeting moment of pure bliss as a great-nephew and his new bride leave the church after marrying yesterday…
Granddaughter graduating… seems but, a fleeting moment .. that I was graduating…
A fleeting moment of remembering home… or maybe an incident encountered that day while in Viet Nam…
A fleeting moment of joy for a Big Sister holding the ultrasound of her new baby brother…
This fleeting moment caught on camera… getting tick tick out of dryer… with pacifier in mouth… so typical then… now 8 years old and playing football…
This will soon be a fleeting moment… as I devour my favorite doughnut…

Time & Place
You’re young. You are standing in front of a shop window watching something on the black and white television inside. A woman grabs your hand and runs down the street, pulling you along…
…………….
Save Me Lassie! by: Marilyn Griffin
My nose was cold… but, I didn’t mind…
Mom had wrapped me up tight with a sweater… a coat… my fuzzy hat and my muff for my hands…
It was almost Christmas… and we were window shopping…
We had visited Santa at his workshop at Sears… I had asked for a new baby doll… One that drank and wet…
Oh, if I could only get one… I would be the happiest little girl…
Shop after shop had “Christmas Specials”… and the sidewalks were very crowded…
The TVs always grabbed our attention as we passed in front of the display windows…
These wonderful machines that not only talked… but, showed pictures… just like a talking story book…
I was engrossed with the show on one of these TVs … Lassie… my favorite… Collie dog with that cute boy named Jeff…
His Mom… they called her Ellen and I just loved the Grandpa… I think they called him George every once in a while…. but, mainly Gramps…
Lassie was running to get Jeff… He had found someone in trouble…
I felt Mom take my hand… and pull very hard…
That was not like her… I looked up to see why she was wanting me to hurry so…
But, it wasn’t Mom… A strange lady had my hand and was pulling me hard down the sidewalk… almost into the street…
I look around… searching for my Mom… and could see her still standing at the window… probably engrossed as I was with the TV show…
I tried to jerk my hand… but, the lady kept pulling me further down the street… I finally got my senses… and began to holler, “Let me go!… What do you want?”…
The woman glanced down and a funny expression ran across her face…
“What?… Who?… are you?”, she is saying…
I’m Katherine… “I want my Mom”, I said… I think I was choking up a little… feeling a little frightened… and not understanding…
“Where is she?”, asked the lady…
“Back where you grabbed my hand… in front of the department store window”, I said… as I pointed back in that direction…
“Oh, my gosh!”, cried the lady… I believe she was as scared as me!…
“But, where is Nancy?”, she asked…
“Who’s Nancy?”, I asked…
“My little girl… She has a hat and muff just like yours!”…
“I was hurrying to catch the bus down the street before it left… which I’m sure it has by now”, explained the lady… who seemed to be quite nice… now that she was talking to me…
She grabbed my hand again… a bit gentler this time… and started running with me in tow back down the street to the department store front…
We saw my Mom standing there with a frightened look on her face and holding the hand of a little girl…
She almost looked like me with her furry hat and muff hanging around her neck…
We all burst into tears as we saw each other!…
Me and Mom hugging…
The lady and Nancy hugging…
So glad to be with our own Moms… and listening to the explanation of the lady who had grabbed my hand by mistake…
We were just so happy… and hysterically started laughing… as Lassie barked on the black and white TV set in the window of the store…
Evidently all were safe and sound… just like us…
I got so enthralled with my “Kiss” story that I actually didn’t do a “photo” …
so here is who I love to kiss!…
When they put those faces up for me to kiss…
it’s right on the mouth… No pretense here…
We love with our hearts!
