Sunday Grateful: December 8, 2013… Salt Dough Ornaments and Grandkids

My Granddaughter opted to go Ice Skating with a friend instead of coming over last night…

I admit I was a little disappointed, but so understood…

She will be 12 in April… and growing up so fast…420895_159860900825330_1322778887_n

Friends are so important… at any age… so… when you get the opportunity… on a snowy day… to go ice skating…x12160352

That was a no brainer! k12118130

Fun was calling her name…

Carson… my Grandson… did come… which was great!

We are pretty good buddies …OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We like the same things… and have fun…

Off to Deal’s ( His favorite $1.00 store )…

He had brought along his saving’s bank with a couple of dollar bills and lots of quarters…k3604389

He had plans… and knew just how much he had to spend…

After leaving there… he said, “I’m really hungry!”… k13045020

I told him Chicken Nuggets… Fries or Pizza were in the freezer…

He would have chicken first… since it could be microwaved

He wanted something to eat soon!… and by the time he finished… the pizza would be ready…

As I said, “He is a planner!”…

TV is always fun… Me watching whatever he wants… “Jinxed” I think it was… Kinda cute…

We then put together the salt dough and cut out some Christmas Ornaments… Fast and easy…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Since the ornaments take 2 hours to bake and then have to cool…

We painted them this morning…

But, not until pancakes, sausage and bacon were cooked…k1868560

He got two of the ornaments ( Star and Gingerbread Boy)… finished before I told him it was shower time…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

He was getting picked up by Mom and Dad… to go to an Awards Ceremony for a Football Trophyk1845737

He was looking forward to that!

I finished up the painting project… and hung them on my hodge podge Christmas TreeOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This year there is definitely a variety of ornaments on it… but, quite cute too!… Old-fashioned in appearance…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Snow had fallen again today  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and a quietness seeped in after my little boy left…

Grandkids sure do bring happiness and joy to a home…

and I’m Grateful for them and the easy craft project!

“Pizza”… ANYTIME?

Gift…

Is it ever too late for PIZZA?  … I don’t think so… my family doesn’t think so… I bet you don’t think so…

We really haven’t eaten supper yet… We had a late lunch which was a full meal… but, that’s what I do more and more… because of being home…

Our big meal more in the middle  of the day…

From what I hear… a lot of people have or still do that…

But, when the hours go by… the hungries do come upon us … even at 8:00 pm

So I looked in the pantry and remembered I had bought a Pizza Kit…

My son has always loved these little boxed pizza kits… It comes in cheese or pepperoni… and we always get pepperoni

And if like tonight… I have some extra ingredients to add to it… I will…

Tonight it’s green pepper , onion and more cheese … PLEASE!…

It comes with a bag of dough mix… You just add warm water and mix until a dough  forms … I spray a little Cooking Spray on the dough itself… and then turn it over and do it on the other side… Then it rests on top of my stove while the oven is pre-heating

After about 10 minutes… I turn the dough on a sprayed pizza pan… and spread it with my hands  until it is to the edge… I might even spray my hands a little… if sticking to the dough…

The kit comes with a small can of sauce with little pepperoni in it…

Spread it all over the dough… It also come with a small bag of Parmesan Cheese  to sprinkle all over the sauce…

As I said… I chopped up additional ingredients of onion, green pepper and added some shredded cheese on top…

Bake for 20 minutes  … and ou la… that is Italian isn’t it???… Home cooked 12″ pizza… hot… right out of the oven…The Chef responsible for this neat little kit is Ettore Boiardi

You may recognize the name as Chef Boyardee when you buy kids canned pasta  like ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti/meatballs, etc. …

He was an Italian-American immigrant… Opened up a restaurant called Giardino d’ Italia in Cleveland , Ohio in 1928…

After customers asked for his recipes and ingredients like the TV commercials state… he decided to open up a factory …The company has gone through 3 owners but, the products are now made by …and still depicts the likeness of this wonderful chef…

Now… time to try our late supper… thanks to Mr. Boiardi

… and my love for pizzaANYTIME!

Day # 2… Comes to a Close…

Memory…

We were going to change our wet clothes but, had drip dried enough that we just put our clothes on over our suits … we were ready for a cold drink… We had enjoyed the little cafe’ where we had eaten lunch… so back there we went…  to rest for a little while enjoying an ice-cold Smirnoff Orange Screwdriver homemade tortilla chips and salsa …with a side of sour cream… It was yummy… and so refreshing… You have to understand… when I say we had a drink… it is usually one drink… We were having fun exploring new adventures… new foods… new drinks

After driving back to Gatlinburg… we found the Roaring Fork rustic stone cabins  that my husband and I had brought the boys to when they were young… I really couldn’t believe they were still there… Looked for “The Black Bear Restaurant” where we would eat… but, sorry to say… it was gone… Looked it up on the internet and found that it had burned and wasn’t rebuilt… That’s the way it goes… Just a memory now…

Roaring Fork Cabins…Honeymoon Suite…

We had stayed in that exact one…

We had left our bathing suits on as I said… so when we reached the apartment… we went straight to the hot tub   … Talked to a young girl from Illinois… so friendly… The outside pool was quite cold… so we opted to swim in the indoor one … After showering and removing the river, hot tub and pool water… we both had put on pajamas…We looked at each other     and said,Pizza sounds good”…and delivery sounded even better!… We found a close pizza place that made fresh hand tossed crust… and they would bring it to our door… We decided one with EVERYTHING  would be great!…

I believe Vera actually was about to doze when a knock at the door was heard… Delivered with a smile … we could smell our pizza immediately!… and it was so good!… We thought we were very hungry…but, had half of it left… That could be lunch or supper… and it wouldn’t matter to us…

Of course we reported in to our husbands… and some of our kids and friends even called us   … I do believe they were missing us… We slept like babies … knowing we had only one more full day and night to get in what we wanted to do… We opted to___________…

to be continued…
