Sleepover Movie…

The grandkids were over last Saturday night for a sleepover

We call it that…

I hadn’t seen them for a couple of weeks… so I was hungry to see them… I’m sure you know what I mean…

I could almost eat them up… I love them so much!…

They are growing in leaps n’ bounds

Kennedy is starting Middle School and Carson is in the 3rd Grade

and they love school…

Both are attending new schools this year… (actually they went back today)… since they moved this past spring…

I’ll have to call and check how it went…

Back to sleepover…

I had rented a video from REDBOX… $1.00 movie rental that is in stores and fast food places…

A depiction of a family who survived the odds of living through a tsunami…

I asked Mom and Dad if it was OK… if they watched it and they said yes…

It was quite intense…

Maria Belon  and her real family who endured this tragedy…

You almost held your breath as you rode out this storm with them…

The wall of water…

The debris….

The destruction…

The pain of bodily injury…

The dead…

The struggle for clean water/food…

The people fighting to find out about their loved ones…

It kept you on the edge of your seat…

I believe all of our hearts were beating fast… and were relieved with the ending…

The effects were outstanding!…

After the movie went off… (we had already eaten hamburgers for dinner)… A light snack and drink came and then sleep came pretty easy…

They didn’t get up until 9:30am… watched cartoons… and then I fixed blueberry pancakes… bacon and sausage… Their choice…

I have pancake forms in the shape of a Rooster, Hen and a Barn…

So, I surprised them

Carson had asked, “What are we were going to do today?”…

I was going to make homemade pretzels with them… but, I think he was thinking of something more like outdoor funpassing the football… kicking the soccer ball or a walk to Wal-Mart…

and neither happened …

Mom and Dad came earlier than usual… Grocery shopping on their mind… and then to the park to play basketball

That seemed to appeal to both of them…

So… the pretzels will wait until next Saturday… as Kennedy suggested… when another sleepover is planned…

Movies for a $1.00…Let’s rate them!

Gift…

I watched two movies this weekend.. I hadn’t rented a movie for quite a while… and there were a few available that I had wanted to see… I rent from the $1.00 Redbox  … located most anywhere these days… I happen to use the one located at Wal-Mart … because I’m there every other day picking up groceries or other things I need…

The first was “Extremely LOUD Incredibly CLOSE”…with Tom Hanks

My review is that I did get a better feeling of how people felt in that horrible situation and tragedy… I will never know the actual pain felt… but, I have worked with children with disabilities  and they would probably react in such a way… Some are extremely intelligent … but, sorting through things is the trouble… Making them quite strange to others… Tom Hanks showed how a caring father would try to interact with this special child… That was good!…

The other was The Descendants with George Clooney

Maybe a little far-fetched… but, the story of how families are becoming so dysfunctional seemed to be addressed quite well… Parents working too much… having too muchboredom at times… and how relationships start to fail … probably pretty accurate… I did like how a mending process became more and more prominent… and ideally this would be great…

An overall B+ for me… on both… I’ve seen many better movies …but, to rent… for $1.00… OK for a lazy afternoon…

Now to head to Wal-Mart to return the discs to that red machine  that brings movies right to me… for such a little cost…

Now, that’s awesome!
