“Scarecrow” Time!

I’ve been trying to at least walk around the block and do my stretching exercises  “mandated” by the PT for my sciatic nerve…It has helped… I really enjoy walking because of all the things you see… The leaves are already starting to change color and some are falling to the ground… Acorns have also fallen from all of the Oak Trees in our neighborhood… The summer flowers are looking a little withered, but Fall Chrysanthemums  are trying to bud and bloom…Pretty colors of orange, yellow, red and deep purples… Some people have stuck a Scarecrow or two in their yard for decoration…The cooler weather we have had has people’s minds heading into the Autumn mode… I know I really enjoy this season…Cool, not cold… Making soups  and chili comes to mind… A light sweatshirt or jacket  just for a little warmth… I was going to wait… seemed a little early…but, since I have the time and like being outside… I’ve stuck my own Scarecrows and Fall Flowers around the house… I’m always surprised as to what I find in my “Fall Finds” from the year before…It’s like opening up a present… Some things I have had a long time…and a few new things purchased at the end of last season… This is when I’m glad my memory is not as sharp as it used to be… It puts a smile on my face to unwrap and display my forgotten memories and wonderful “finds” from the previous year! …Yes, Ms. Autumn  your Season is really quite lovely!

“My Kids”!…

Autumn meant our kids  started to wear sweaters or jackets to school  …This would seem to be a normal thing to do…and it usually is…But, if you’ve worked at a school…it can be interesting!…First they want to wear their jackets all day in the classroom…Having a dress code… it wasn’t permitted and besides it was usually warm in the classroom …so no need…Then of course the challenge started between student and teacher…The kid’s saying, “Why not?…I’m cold!… I need it!  … Someone will take it!”…That’s just the beginning…Since it starts by being cold in the mornings, then warms up by afternoon… The jackets were usually left on the hook  at school or left on a seat of the school bus  on the way home…Who has to find these missing items??? Us, of course… I have to admit I loved the parents who wrote their kid’s name on the tag at the neck of their jacket…Then there was no problem getting it to the right child… Believe it or not we’ve had students wear the same color and style of sweatshirt … and then another argument ensued… Maybe Ms. Autumn  … you would like to oversee the… “Lost and Found Department” since your Season is what brings in that cooler jacket weather!
