Hemming my husband’s new pants…

I HATE HEMMING!…

and usually take it to a lady I found…

BUT… he will need these sooner than she could get them done…

so… this was this mornings project!

Found these cutest Salt/Peppers at the thrift store…

Thinking Easter…

Made it outside Sunday… FRESH air at last!… and warm sunshine on my shoulders…

Limbs and twigs covered our back yard due to heavy winds a few days…

I really like how “Mother Nature” cleans out the old… but, she always seems to leave the “heavy” work for me…

We will burn our collection when the winds have died down…

Bracelet Purses…Enough to Share!

I was going to make more… but, time has run out… I did manage to sew together 5 of these cute Bracelet Purses that I read about on “The Mother Huddle”… I believe my Granddaughter Kennedy will like them…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I actually made 10 purses… because they are all reversible… Isn’t that nifty!… and the Bracelet Handles slip right onto your wrist… Great for going shopping… but, big enough to hold money… lipstick/gloss.. keys…(no, she’s way too young to drive)…House key!… and a few other things a girl has to have…CELL PHONE!…

The Mother Huddle has the full tutorial on how to make them… It does help to have some sewing experience… But, really quick and easy

I used materials I had left from making doll clothes a couple of years ago… My girl is growing up way too fast… Us Grandma’s like them to stay small and cuddly longer than they want… So instead of dolls … we are wanting to shop look at the boys… have the latest shoes and fashion… and texting/calling their BFF’S all of the time…

The Black/Leopard is probably my favorite… but, then I’m older… They all will coordinate with her many outfits… and maybe… if she really likes them… I’ll finish the others I have cut out…

Rosy Pink with Small Print in Rosy Pink/Blue on reverse…

Fleece Leopard Print with Beige on reverse…

That would make her 6 more …

I thought Kennedy might also like to share one with her Best Friend

It would be fine with me!

Fast…Fun…Fearless!

Gift…

When I took a friend to the doctor the other day… I was in the waiting room… browsing through whatever magazines they had… I came across a “Family Fun magazine

 …

Seemed pretty good… crafty things you can do with kids and even adults… On page #13… a little girl in a cute top (dress) was pictured and I began to read the topic that had caught my eye…”T-shirt Tunic“…

It was about recycling a T-shirt into a cute tunic type dress for smaller kids or a cute top I thought for my granddaughter… I love ideas… but, I usually have to make them my own in some small way…

I reread the directions, seemed simple enough… but, knowing my memory is not quite what it used to be… I did something I don’t usually do… I tore the page out of the magazine… folded it up and proceeded to put it in my purse… I just acted like it was a normal thing to do… although feeling a little guilty… It was stealing… and it kinda bothered me… but, since there were about 4-5 of the same magazine lying around the room… I did it!… and I’m confessing that I did!… Not sure that clears me of this… but, it’s done…

I want to give credit to the creator of this neat little idea… Nicole Blum… who with the editor of this cute magazine wrote the just released “Improv Sewing : 101 Fast, Fun, and Fearless Projects”… Does this get me off the hook???

The whole idea was to use a T-shirt that needed to be recycled… So I looked through my husbands and my T-shirts… but, to no avail… I then looked at T-shirts at my favorite thrift store… and a bright green one caught my eye… You know how it is… You just know that’s it!…

It seemed big enough without being too big… and you have to know my granddaughter who is 10… just fractured her ankle… so the saying on the shirt was very appropriate …”I’m Just One Big Freaking Ray of Sunshine Aren’t I?  … no swimming…no climbing…no running…no walking… Attitude has set in a little…

Directions:

Spread T-shirt… actually press it flat…

I marked with a ruler and white crayon 3 lines as in photo…

Cut with scissors…

Turn under edges at arms about 1/4″… and press…

Using embroidery floss… I chose bright yellow because of the yellow sunshine and words on front of shirt… and hand-stitch a running stitch with needle… (in and out)…

Turn under front and back neck area… about 1-1/2″ wide… and then stitch the same way as arms…

I chose “Peace Sign” colorful satin ribbon( Kennedy is a little “hippie” at heart)… to run through the pocket that has been made while hemming… just fasten a safety pin to the end of ribbon and work through… draw up neck area a little or adjust when shirt is on… and then tie a cute bow

So easy… so inexpensive…so different… “ONE of a Kind!”…

If Kennedy likes it… I will try another print and color of T-shirt… and make another… Because it was a… FAST… FUN… and FEARLESS Project…

“Threadbare and Worn”…

Keepsake…

I usually write my own BLOGS … but, this laid heavy on my heart today… so I’m passing it on… An e-mail just forwarded as usual…but, it said a lot about how I’m feeling at the end of this year… I hope to remember this little story someone wrote as I enter into a brand New Year… hopefully with a lighter heart …

“Quilt of Holes”

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls.
Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles ; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.
But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in everyday life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.
I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries  were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened .
My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.
Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light , the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.
My gaze dropped to the ground in shame I hadn’t had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer , asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.
And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was.
I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light. An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes.
Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ . Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, “Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through , until there was more of Me than there was of you”.
May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through!
God determines who walks into your life …it’s up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

So. I in turn pass this on to you… May your “Quilt” become threadbare and worn… I’ve always thought they were more beautiful… and our hearts will become lighter… as we cover ourselves with them…
