I hooked up with Facebook
today…Have actually fought getting on…Reasons???
#1. Safety Issues …who’s going to get my info?
#2. Time consuming
…I already spend so much time doing my blog …which I thoroughly enjoy
#3. My husband just doesn’t get it!…”Who are you talking to?…Who is getting all your info?…Why do you want to do it?…Don’t you think you’re on the computer
too much as it is?”, he says.
#4. I like to hear all the pros and cons
before I try something.
#5. I didn’t understand
the concept fully.
#6. Just because everyone does it…doesn’t mean I have to or even want to.
#7. My husband is watching someone on TV
right now… who had their bank account and their “Friends” bank accounts
compromised and pretty much depleted…just by being on Facebook.
The reason I changed my mind was really quite by accident
…I was looking at a sites Facebook account…when they said I needed to join or could go no further…so right then and there I did it…Within minutes
you are pretty much hooked…all those people who you know…just waiting for me to become their friend
…Is’nt that grand!…I thought I was already their friend…but, evidently not …They seem to think they can only talk to me
and share their thoughts and activities with me this way…I agree it doesn’t take as much effort…
No going to the telephone and sitting in one spot
for a while and having an actual conversation… after eavesdropping
on the other parties conversation that shares the line with you…Oh no, that was when I was in Elementary School…1950’s I do believe …Hmm…
No getting out a pen…more likely a pencil…and paper with just some lines on it
or plain white…and actually writing in cursive
…Dear _____, … How have you been?…and so on and so on…until you’ve told them everything that had happened the last couple of weeks…signing it with Love, ______… having to buy a stamp and licking it
and placing it on the envelope …and you actually knew how to address it the correct way…I even remember when zip codes
started being used…Oh no, what year was that?…July1,1963 to be exact…
No going to the dime store
and actually buying a special birthday card
or get well card
and actually mailing it to the person…and they thought that the card was the gift
…Oh no, just a card…I thought you had to buy expensive presents…I believe I like the card idea…Let’s try it for a year…wouldn’t people be surprised?
…
No walking across the street and sitting on the porch
…having a cup of coffee or a glass of iced tea…with your neighbor…Oh no, you don’t really know your neighbor that well…you just say hi and by…as you get in your car
to go a couple of blocks down to Wal-Mart
or Kroger…
So it looks like our way of communicating has changed a lot…so do I keep on blogging???
Do I keep on “Facebooking” ??? Do others keep on texting??? or talking on cell phones while doing 5 things at once???
…I’m sure that gives the person you are talking to, lots of your attention…
So here’s the dilemma …Do you want me for your friend??? and do I want you for my friend???

<<<<<<<Which one would you rather do?…
“My Kids!”…
Some of our students knew about Facebook
long before I did…They saw their parents, relatives or friends doing it
…Some said they had their own Facebook account…Who am I to doubt it…One thing I do know is that “Friendship”
was so important to these children…Some of our kids were so friendly we had to teach them what was appropriate and what wasn’t…You just can’t hug everyone
…even if you think you like them a lot…Some of our kids even wanted to sit on others laps
…NO, NO!…that was quite unacceptable…We were not their Mom or Dad…even if they thought that way of us…another teaching time…When we would be out in a public place such as a movie theater
…a grocery store… an amusement park
…a playground area…We would have to watch and make sure our kids were kept safe
from unfriendly people…They loved talking … had so much trust…so suseptible…so easily swayed
…These children will need to be supervised as to who they accept
as their Friends
…Because they themselves, are just too friendly!
