Improvised Cookies!

Sunday Morning…

Got up way too early… but, after having breakfast with husband … talking to the cats      …

and my sister … I was awake!…

I decided to go ahead and make the cookies I’m taking to BUNCO…

My sister and I have the food/drinks this time…

MENU

Chicken Salad/ crackers /rolls =  Carolyn

Pimento Cheese = Carolyn

Plates/Napkins/Forks = Carolyn

Dessert (Cookies) = Me!

Fruit Salad = Me!

Cups/ Drinks/ Ice = Me!

We are deciding on one more thing… but, haven’t decided…

but, we’ll pull it off…

We always do fine!…

We each take half of the items we need after deciding on the MENU!

I saw these cookies… OK!… ate them also!… at the Casino the other day on their Buffett…

So simple… remember that’s ME!…

Sugar Cookies ( a little almond flavoring )… bent in half… with a little Raspberry Jam and Lemon Frosting Filling…

I improvised on the Chocolate Chip… They didn’t have any… but, Why Not!…

We had to have something “chocolate!”…

So I made Chocolate Chip Cookies… bent them in half… filled with Chocolate Fudge Frosting ( a little ) and dipped in sprinkles… 

I placed them in some small red/pink flowered cupcake papers I found after Valentine’s Day for 75% OFF… Made approximately 80… we sometimes have 30 ladies playing…

 

Will freeze until I leave for BUNCO on Tuesday evening… Knowing they will be even better from experiences I have had in baking…

After getting home from work that afternoon I will make a Simple Fruit Salad of Oranges, Pineapple and Flaky Coconut …( a few red cherries for color ) …

Sounds GOOD to me!

Cookies and “KABOOM”!

Yesterday… I baked cookies…

“Simply”… as always… because that’s the “word” I picked to follow throughout the year 2013… SIMPLE…

Just a word… but, has made my life a lot “simpler”…

I don’t know if I can find a better word for 2014… but, if not… I’ll stick to this one…

Because it worked!

Found Halloween Sugar Cookie Mix for 50% OFF…

It’s still Fall… so the Fall colored sprinkles in this
“Funfetti” Mix of orange and brown (Chocolate) is just fine…

Just an egg and 1 stick of soft margarine mixed together with mix…

Roll into balls and press down slightly…

I added additional “Autumn” Sprinkles I had bought for 50% too…

Orange, yellow, brown and green…

Baked for 10 minutes… and we have some sweet cookies to eat and maybe share…

then today… since I kind of goofed off yesterday… was cleaning day…

and “KABOOM” came to my rescue!

It sprays out in a foam that doesn’t drip all over… and is blue…

My bathroom sink…

the foam is slowly turning white…

when it has turned all of the way white..

the dirt has melted and it’s ready to wipe away…

just a little water and down the drain it goes…

leaving my sink sparkling clean…

As I said, “I love these “simple” things I have discovered and used this year!

Yummy or Yucky???

After watching the Kentucky Derby… Kennedy and I decide to make the cookies I bought…

“Shortbread”… made by Betty Crocker…

If you notice in the photos her left hand is in a cast… playing outside… she tripped and broke her wrist…

But, she did an awesome job with one hand!

 

I’ve tasted shortbread before… Not overly sweet…but, sweet… kinda like a soft sugar cookie…

“Lorna Dunes” come to mind… pre-packaged…

Good!…

All you have to do is mix the dry mix from the package with two sticks of butter/ margarine…

untill forms a soft dough…

 

Pat out in a rectangular shape or use a rolling-pin…

Cut into small rectangles…

 

Pierce  holes using a fork…

 

Bake at 375 degrees for about 8-10 minutes…

They don’t get very brown… slightly on the bottom and tops…

Cool and eat…

 

WRONG!… we tasted and they were just awful!…

No sweetness what so ever!… just doughy…

disappointment for sure!…

Our sweet fix was not to be had!…

All of Kennedy’s hard (easy) work to no avail!…

I even looked on the package to see if I had left out something!… but, no… we had followed the directions just right!

So, not to waste them… I gave them to the birds this morning… Unbelievably… They seemed to really enjoy them…           

 

They’ve eaten over half of them already …

I guess you could say, They were…” for the birds!”

“Goody” Containers…

After Christmas is actually my favorite time to shop… I don’t do Black Friday … but, I have been known to get up very early for the After Christmas Sales!…

I’m kind of particular as to what I buy…

Keeping people in mind…

What I’m going to do with what I buy…

Is it really a bargain…

Can I store it for a whole year…

I always bake something… mainly cookies…

or I make candy… and even little loaves of breads…

So I’m on the outlook for containers…

It has to be something I can mail… because my Georgia relatives will be getting homemade goodies from me…and a few neighbors, etc. …

They tell me they love it! … or it could be they haven’t the heart to tell me …

“DON’T SEND COOKIES/CANDY ANYMORE!”…

I will go on believing they like their goodies… as my husband calls them… because I truly enjoy making them.

..

I collect different containers… to ship in… and also cute plates and boxes…

   Ceramic Baking Dishes for breads…

 

Family and Friend’s Plates will work well for Cookies…

It says:

For Family and Friends,

This plate’s journey shall never end,

Fill with food made with care,

And complete the mission to love and share.

 These little plates have recipes right on the plate… So the one with the Tree will get Sugar Cookies…

and the one with the Star will get Butter Cookies…

 These Cookie Tray Bags will be great for covering the plates and keeping the “goodies” fresh!

     These cute boxes will be nice for cookies…

I do need a few tins for candy if I decide to make any… I’ll keep looking and knowing me… I’ll find them “cheap” somewhere…

None of these items cost me over 50 cents… So that way… I can put more into the ingredients I will need…
