The next time you’re in a public place — a coffeehouse, a park, a store — observe the people around you. Pick a person, a couple, or a group, and imagine what their lives might be like.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us IMAGINE.
I saw a precious lady at a wedding this past weekend… Maybe this is what her life is like…
Imagine… You Were Me! by: Marilyn Griffin
I look older at times …
and then some days younger…
My wheel chair binds…
At times I wonder…
I smile a lot…
My hair is long…
My life long fought…
It’s no one’s wrong…
I love my tennis shoes…
Bright orange they be…
My body gives clues…
That it’s just me…
I move my arms and hands…
Unable to control…
If only I had plans…
But, now I’m getting old…
I have love…
Surrounding me…
And that’s enough…
To keep me free…
I’m dressed up today…
My hair sprayed…
A red tinted display…
Combed and laid…
I love the look…
I get from a stranger…
Looking from nook…
As if there’s danger…
I’m not to fear…
Just a little different…
Come on near…
My heads just bent…
My illness…
I’m born with…
Is relentless…
Just forget that myth…
I’m just like you…
Just caught in this form…
Laughing – wanting to do…
Just the way I was born…
Three Awards I’ve won in the past couple of months…
Thanks so much to :

My 11 questions are:
To all of my fellow bloggers… I find you all quite worthy of any of these awards…
Why do you blog?
Really… the question is directed to me… so…
Why do I blog?
I started blogging after viewing a friend’s blog and just enjoyed her thoughts on many subjects…
I learned more about her by reading than I ever did actually talking face to face with her…
Isn’t that a shame!…
It seems we are way more truthful when we blog… It just flows from our fingertips…
I also had retired… What to do with some of my time?…
I had been wanting to write about my adventures while working with Special Education students for 30+ years…
There were adventures to tell…
There were funny incidences to tell…
There were personalities to share…
There were sad stories…
There were humorous stories…
There were learning moments…
It was pure joy!…
It seemed to have a lot of details that could capture an audience…
So, I wrote for a year combining tales of mine with tales from my “Special Kids”…
It was amazing!…
I now write to express myself…
I enjoy “Other’s writings” also…
It keeps me up on world news…
It keeps me up on happenings that I’ll never encounter…
It makes me more aware of people and the different facets of others lives…
I belong to a special “community” now…
I like the way others have accepted me … even has raised my self-esteem… I’ve received a clearer picture of who I actually am…
and it doesn’t seem too bad!
I’ve reached 230 BLOGS as to date this year of 2011… I think that is an achievement
for me!… Probably the longest time spent on a goal
for me… except my job with the Special Kids
I worked with for 30+ years… I have to say, looking back at some of my past blogs… I’m quite impressed!…Not all are good… but, readable
…When I push that “PUBLISH” button
… I usually feel pretty good about what I had to say… and the way I expressed it… My purpose this past year was really to get my feet wet in the blogging world
…and I have but, I have a long ways to go… My other purpose was to write about the special kids I worked with for so long… To express to others the funny moments, the sad moments, the blessed moments, the learning moments, the happy moments, the “OH YES!”
moments of achievements I saw in “My Kids!”… I will reread and tweak my stories in the next couple of months or years… who knows???… and then I hope to find a willing person to make my writings into a little book
of sorts… I’ve had the title for about 30 years… and now I have something in writing
that can be looked at and read…That IS an accomplishment!… Yea for me!… So to all I have mentioned in my writings I say, “Thanks!” … You all have given me so much!… and I hope to be able to share my feelings to you in a “hard bound copy”
some day… My dream... or as I read lately… more than a dream… I’m reaching for something more … real satisfaction and goals met! … Thanks to
too… My Blog site… for giving me this opportunity… You’ve created so many of us, “Writing Monsters”
… but, that’s a good thing!
Have a Happy “2012” New Year!
I have an “IDEA BOX” …it was suggested to us bloggers …because sometimes you just go blank!
…Really, I haven’t had that problem…I usually start writing about something and end up going in an entirely different direction
…That’s why I love blogging
…I start writing, then I start looking up information on the internet
…and then when I’ve finished writing…I have learned something NEW!…How neat is that!…I decorated my “IDEA BOX”
to compliment my U of L
office room …Why not?…I have approximately 6 ideas in my box now…some I will use and some will not…You have to also be in a mood to write about some things…I have found writing to be like my art
…I have to be “inspired”
…Isn’t that a neat word…”Inspired or Inspiration“? …I picked out the meanings that applied…
1. extraordinarily good: brilliant and creative
2. motivated by something: based on a particular motive or example
3. stimulate somebody to do something: to encourage somebody to greater effort, enthusiasm, or creativity (artistic work)
4. stimulation to do creative work: stimulation for the human mind to creative thought or to the making of art
5. good idea: a sudden brilliant idea
6. divine influence: divine guidance and influence on human beings

So with this information I hope to be inspired to continue to write and get better every day…
“My Kids!”…
I had so many kids in our classroom that gave so much “Inspiration” …and evidently they were inspired …A young man in our class had written and illustrated his own comic book…The charachters were unusual like all comic book characters
are…the illustrations were so detailed and wonderful…I believe one of the characters was called “Smelly Feet”…so funny!
…When he drew other things the details as I have said, were awesome…He designed things…he reworked others ideas to make them his own…”Is that plagerism?”…just kidding…He just made things into the way he conceived them…I call this inspiration
, having a stimulated, brilliant, creative, enthusiastic
talent…Where does this come from???…
I have to go back to the last definition that I listed…Divine guidance that influences us as humans …Have you ever been truly inspired?…I bet you have!
Oh, my gosh!…I would never have believed how many people love to write …If you had asked them in High School if they wanted to write 1 paragraph…you would have heard moans and groans
…Is it because no one listens
unless you write it?…Is it because we have lots to tell about ourselves and want someone to know us? …Is it because we talk so much on cell phones
that we want to say even more in writing?
…I just know since I have started blogging
…I have read an awesome amount of people’s writings
…and it is just a very tiny part…So much that people want to say!…It must be a great release for them to write…Yes, that’s part of why I do it! … It releases tension from a busy day…It is quiet time
for myself…It lets me express
myself…It is challenging
at times…and I learn from doing it!…Whatever reason…I know it has helped me stay focused, keeps my mind active
, keeps me informed of what is happening around me, it improves my vocabulary
and writing skills…and it lets me accomplish my dream of someday writing my book
…So I say, “Go on and write!”…I see more benefits from it than anything negative
… Any comments?
“My Kids!”…
My kids at school really liked to write …even the ones who didn’t know how…Several of our young “wanna be writers” would come back from an elective class with their version of notes
taken for that hour…it would look similar to this:
llllllll;kkkkkkggggg7yyyylllmlmklankhhfahvsajkannnnnnnnnnnnnmmmlllmcbd
jnmjkbhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooommmmmn
…a couple of pages at times…We would say how proud we were of them for trying to take their notes in class…and we were!…They always TRIED!
…which is not the case with other kids sometimes…These children wanted to express themselves so much…and to do the best they could…We worked on writing skills
all the time…making the shapes of the letters over and over
…sometimes they could make the shapes, but had no idea what they were making
…They couldn’t remember the name of the letter or word…How difficult this had to be
…Us wanting them to learn something their minds could not grasp…There were some of course who could read and write quite well
…printing and cursive
… They could read
, spell
and even put these concepts together…Some of the tales they told sometimes, would make wonderful fictional stories…Writing
is such an expressive form of communication…I think everyone should give it a try!…
