“My Time!”…

I love getting up early before anyone else …It’s my quiet time…I can check my email and Facebook  …I can start writing my blog …I have my first and only cup of coffee for the day…I open the blinds and doors and peek out…Usually nothing is stirring yet…I like it!…The sun makes its way over the big hill up above our house…Sometimes you think it’s going to be a cloudy day…because it takes a while for it to make its way …I straighten up a little…I watch the  of the day…I am usually contemplating about what the day has in store…appointments, grandchildren activities, who might be coming over, my “To Do” list …I check my calendar…making adjustments if need be…I say my silent prayer for my family…and anyone else in need…This time of day…it belongs to only me for awhile…It’s nice!…As the sun begins to get higher…I look out my kitchen window and notice my birds starting to land near the bird feeder …My momma and daddy Sparrow are still feeding their youngster who was born at the beginning of summer…”He is rotten!”, I say…because he can fly to our deck, but his parents are still feeding him …It has been so neat watching this little family all summer…It won’t be long before my cat Jill, will find me…She’ll want her rub as she sprawls on the kitchen floor …I’ll get tiny licks of affection…I love her too!…Then it won’t be long until my Bobby awakes and comes in with a “Good Morning!”…and “You’re up early!”…Coffee is ready for him…his favorite drink  …and the day begins!

“My Kids!”…

Our students use to arrive quite early…The male teacher and aide met the buses …as we waited in the classroom for them to arrive… I felt sorry for them…some having to arrive so sleepy …I knew how I felt, so I could sympathize with them…Everyone was in their seats by 7:30am…I do have to say, most came in “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed” as the saying goes…usually happy and glad to be with us…We would be checking attendance to see who was there …I would collect any notes or assignments from them …and then take the “Breakfast Crew” to the cafeteria …The cafeteria people took care of our wants really well…My free coffee every morning was a blessing … After that, I was ready for the day…They had great cinnamon rolls , pancakes/sausage on a stick , biscuit with sausage, coffee cake and muffins at times and of course the ever popular cereal choices…The students who had already eaten breakfast would stay in the room with the teacher and other assistant…We had a  communications department…They broadcasted the news and weather report over the TVs in every room each morning and anything of importance happening at the school…They did a great job!…Some of our students were broadcasters too… We had a few minutes to check our email…because almost all of the important information concerning school activities was done this way…and then I took a few kids to different parts of the hallway to collect attendance folders …a learning exercise for our special students…It didn’t take too long , before they were on their own!…and this is how our school day began!
