I decorate my home usually from things I can redo…
I like it!
coming from necessity maybe… but, I tend to believe it’s just the art in me…
I have slowly decorated my “Paris” themed bathroom and bedroom…
I am using black, gray and bright pink accents…
I think of things I would like to have and in my hunt… I usually find it!
I have an eye for the unusual and can visualize the finished product…
Sometimes people are quite amazed at my way of doing things… or what comes out of something I picked up at a thrift store or …
I just call it my hobby… my way of having fun… my peace…
I had wanted a small sturdy chair… black in color… but, could paint it if necessary… with a cushioned bottom…
Sometimes my husband watches TV in our bedroom… and to have a place to sit besides the bed would be nice…
I found it yesterday… and it was already black…
Needed a slight sanding and a coat of black spray paint… that I already had… just to brighten it up…
The seat was padded but had an old (dirty) print that would NOT work…
I spotted material across the way… in the thrift store… about 30 feet away!…
I know what I like… and what will work…
I call it the “Magic” in me!
I had decided I would look in the material section… but, then my mind said…
“You could use anything that is big enough to cover the seat!”…
a blouse, a pillow case… a shirt…
and I immediately spotted it…
At this time I didn’t know what it was… but, found it to be a pillow sham… like brand new…
Black and white print… PERFECT!
It was mine!
The chair cost me $4.99 and the pillow sham $1.48…
It couldn’t have been better unless it had been 25% off day … which it wasn’t!
I brought it home… and immediately my husband sees what I see…
WE share like images in our minds!
I washed the chair good… after he removes the seat… just four screws…
I begin to check out the print of the pillow sham and center it on the seat… cutting here and there …
and without me knowing it… my husband has it sanded … just needed a little… and had sprayed it with my black paint …
After drying… we attached the material I had cut from the sham… and stapled it on…
and my chair was finished…
and we all loved it!
I couldn’t have been happier if I had went out and bought it at a furniture store for new!…
We will enjoy it even more probably… by sharing the work we put into it together!

Thanks…I don’t blog about redoing all of the time…but, it shows up a lot!
this is exactly like me. I make homes look so comfy, (according to people’s words) by using things that are already in the home. Why buy when we have it sitting around? Love the chair. I can see me doing this project too, but with my Victorian Era love, I would have fringe or clear beads hanging on the edges.!!! great post Marilyn
thanks Terry…love the chair…and it was so easy!

That chair looks wonderful and that print is what is “in”! Not that it matters but I like it. Would like to see more pictures of some of your redo’s… especially the Paris bathroom.
I just bought some burlap with a Paris print to make my kitchen curtains……
I did a blog about my bathroom redo…I’ll try and pull it up…
